Kapamilya star Vice Ganda revealed that he got offended by Direk Bobet Vidanes’ sudden resignation as the director of the noontime show It’s Showtime.
Vidanes was previously the director of It’s Showtime for about 11 years before he transferred to the TV5 network in the newly launched show “Lunch Out Loud.”
In Vice Ganda’s YouTube vlog with Ion Perez and Ryan Bang on Sunday, February 7, he talked about his sentiments after Direk Bobet left It’s Showtime.
The comedian mentioned that he was shocked when Direk Bobet left the noontime show. He said that he even tried to contact the director to ask for an explanation but he was left unanswered.
“Siyempre, nagulat. Wala namang nakakaalam. Wala rin namang… ewan ko, hindi ko alam kung walang nakakaalam
“Pero kung ako, nagulat ako, kasi hindi ko alam, di ba? Sana… Wala. Nagulat. Nagtaka. Nagtanong,” he said.
“’Tapos, inaya ko siyang mag-ano. Tinext ko siya para usap kami. Para lang maintindihan ko, di ba?
“Hindi niya ako sinagot. Hindi niya ako sinagot. Para kung… di ba?
“Para alam ko man lang, o alam man lang natin, o isa man lang sa atin, may alam yung totoong rason. Di ba?” he added.
Vice Ganda said that Direk Bobet could have at least given his It’s Showtime family an explanation for the sake of their 11 years as a family on the show.
“Nakakagulat lang, parang after 11 years… doon lang pala iyon. Parang kung… kung meron man tayong bahagi doon sa dahilan niya para umalis.
“Sana, nalaman man lang natin, di ba? At kung meron man, kumbaga, kung tayo, isa sa atin ang dahilan kaya siya umalis, sana alam natin. Para napag-usapan,” the 44-year-old comedian said.
“Kung ano man yung dahilan niya, sana napag-usapan. At saka kung talagang family tayo, baka… kung napag-usapan, baka nagawan ng paraan.
“Baka natulungan natin ang isa’t isa, di ba? Kung may pinagdadaanan siya noon, baka nakagawa tayo ng paraan,” he added.
Vice Ganda noted that it would be ‘plastic’ of him to say that he was not offended by Direk Bobet’s transfer to the TV5 network.
“‘Yun lang din, nakaka… ang plastik pag sinabing hindi ako na-offend!” he said.
He also recalled their promise on the show where the It’s Showtime hosts and Direk Bobet promised to never leave the show.
“After 11 years, nanggaling pa iyon sa anniversary na meron pa tayong mga chikang ‘walang iwanan kahit anong mangyari’ sa opening,” said Vice Ganda.
“Di ba, may mga ganun-ganun tayo? ‘Tapos, right after, a few days after the anniversary, biglang may maririnig kang parang… anong nangyari sa pangako?” he added.
Direk Bobet’s departure came after ABS-CBN’s downsized operations due to its shutdown, which cut employees’ salaries, along with new and stricter regulations.
