Kapamilya award-winning actor Arjo Atayde is said to be planning to enter politics as Congressman of the 5th district of Quezon City.
The rumor was shared by veteran columnist and talent manager Lolit Solis in her Instagram post.
In the post, Manay Lolit said that she heard of the news about Arjo’s plan to run for congress. Solis, however, pointed out that while she’s a friend to Arjo’s mother Sylvia Sanchez, she’s already committed her support to the candidacy of PM Vargas, QC councilor and brother of incumbent Congressman Alfred Vargas.
“Magugulo ako Salve pag natuloy iyon mga balita na papasok sa pulitika si Arjo Atayde. Kasi ang balita sa 5th district siya baka tumakbong congressman, eh friend ko si Sylvia Sanchez pero siyempre kay PM Vargas ako na kapatid ni Alfred.”

Meanwhile, Arjo started his career as a young actor in 2012 for Maalaala Mo Kaya‘s Bangka episode which subsequently won his first award as Best New Male TV Personality at the 26th PMPC Star Awards for TV.
It was then followed by his role in Kapamilya afternoon teleserye Dugong Buhay which gave him his first acting award as Best Drama Supporting Actor at the 27th PMPC Star Awards for TV.
But his biggest break was his role as antagonist to Coco Martin in the Kapamilya long-running action series J’s Ang Probinsyano.
He was then cast in different Kapamilya shows like Hanggang Saan, The General’s Daughter, and 24/7.
Recently, Arjo became the first Filipino to win the Best Actor in a Leading Role award at the 3rd Asian Academy Creative Awards for his role in the original iWant series Bagman.
