Former child star Jairus Aquino revealed that there have been gays that harass him on his Instagram account. The young actor revealed that he doesn’t mind the messages as long as he is not harassed physically.
In an interview, Jairus mentioned that he simply takes the messages from gays as a way for them to admire him. He said that he doesn’t make an issue out of the said messages because the harassment isn’t done to him physically.
“Kumbaga isipin natin na hangga’t hindi ka naman nakakanti physically, okay na ‘yon. Let’s take it that way na lang na ina-admire ka pa rin nila sa ibang paraan lang. Medyo nakakabastos pero hangga’t hindi nangyayari physically (ang pambabastos) okay lang,” he said.
He added saying that the things that he read on his Instagram will just go away in his mind the following day.
“Kasi itutulog mo lang naman ‘yung nabasa mo, paggising mo wala na di ba?” he added.
The 21-year old actor has gay friends with whom he gets along with pretty well. He said that his gay friends respect him as much as he respects them which is something that the young actor admires about his gay friends.
“Nae-enjoy ko ‘yung company nila eh. Manood ka sa kanila, nagbibiruan sila, tapos matatawa ka rin. Marami akong kaibigang gay and nirerespeto naman nila ako. Kasi binibigyan ko rin naman sila ng respeto. That’s what I like sa mga kaibigan kong gays. Nirerespeto ko sila kung sino sila, nirerespeto din nila ako kung sino ako,” said Jairus.
Meanwhile, Jairus mentioned that he has anxiety even before the COVID-19 pandemic happened. But when the pandemic happened, he said that his anxiety attacks happen more frequently.
“Bago pa dumating ang pandemic, may anxiety na ako. Pero syempre, I’m busy, may work, so na di-divert ‘yung attention mo. Nagiging okay siya. Nag-aatack lang siya [anxiety] kapag sobrang problemado,” he said.
“Pero nung nag pandemic, dun na nag start na mag trigger nang mas madalas. Tapos sa mga nangyari pa sa [ABS-CBN]. Nandyan na ‘yung sleepless nights, nandyan ‘yung biglang hindi makahinga,” he added.
He mentioned that the reason for his anxiety is his combined stress with work.
“Siguro sa stress. ‘Pag sa sobrang puyat, ‘yung stress sa trabaho, tapos overthinking at syempre may mga problema. Pero di naman siya severe,” said Jairus.
Jairus Aquino is known for his roles in Super Inggo (2006), Kung Fu Kids (2008) and Luv U (2013). He was part of the upcoming film Suarez: The Healing Priest where he portrayed the role of a kid who was harassed by Fr. Suarez.
