With the possibility of rape-slay on the death of Christine Dacera, the Philippine National Police (PNP) seems to be pushing it in order to gain support from the people to bring back death penalty.
This was observed by singer and host Bituin Escalante which she shared on her Twitter account.
In her post, she thinks that the police force is making up the rape-slay angle in order to incite anger about the death of Dacera. With anger driving people, the death penalty would surely have its chance to be resurrected since it is now being pushed in the Senate

PNP chief Debold Sinas insisted that the victim was raped before she died. He released such a claim just this Wednesday on a briefing.
“I think there’s really rape. ‘Yung babae, with bruises, confirmed lacerations tapos may fluid sa private parts niya… It really happened,” said Sinas.
Still, initial findings suggested that the cause of death by the victim was due to “Ruptured Aortic Aneurysm”.
Meanwhile, Senator Manny Pacquiao offered a 500K reward to anyone who could bring valuable information on the whereabouts of the remaining suspects.
3 out of 12 suspects for the possible rape-slay angle from the PNP are now in their custody. The apprehended suspects are being charged with rape with homicide.
Senator Manny Pacquiao used her as an example why the death penalty is needed in the country.
“Ayoko sa lahat papatayin na, gagahasain pa kaya isinusulong ko ang death penalty,” he said.
Last Tuesday, Pacquiao defended the death penalty through an argument that it is okay to impose such punishment since Jesus Christ was also given such a judgment.
“Even Jesus Christ was sentenced to death by the government,” said the senator.
Pacquiao is one of the 8 senators who filed a bill seeking capital punishment for heinous crimes.
