After taking the time to fill their teledrama line up and resume production, GMA Network is now going full blast with fresh new episodes and new shows.
One of the shows currently airing new episodes is the primetime series Descendants of the Sun and afternoon teleserye Prima Donnas.
Some of the teleseryes that have finished their lock-in shooting are Anak ni Waray vs. Anak ni Biday and Bilangin Ang Bituin Sa Langit.
One of the most awaited teleseryes, Legal Wives, which will star Dennis Trillo, Bianca Umali, Alice Dixson, and Andrea Torres, has finished their swab testing for their lock-in taping.
The cast of the upcoming Kapuso series First Yaya also started their lock-in taping after a change in their lead actress was made.
Marian Rivera revealed that she was withdrawing from the show because she could not afford to be away too long from her children, Zia and Sixto, if she had to do lock-in taping.
Kapuso actress Sanya Lopez was then tapped to replace Marian. On the Instagram account of Gabby Concepcion, the lead actor of First Yaya, showed that they were already on the closed set working on the series.
Other actors are doing their utmost to adjust to the new safety protocols. In a report by 24 Oras, Carmina Villaroel shared that she brought a portable washing machine and dryer for the month-long lock-in taping of Babawiin Ko Ang Lahat.
“Lahat ng mga gamit namin pinausukan ko talaga dito. Nandito yung mga detergent soap, dishwashing soap, may fabric softener din kame dito. May dala din akong disinfectant.”
Since March, stricter steps were placed by the government to stop the spread of Covid-19. This forced production units to stop shooting and TV networks to bring back old shows to fill up vacant time slots temporarily.
But GMA Network’s former biggest rival, ABS-CBN, has been premiering various new shows and continually shooting under strict safety guidelines since June.
Even TV5 Network sealed block time agreements with some of the country’s largest production units to firm up their programming, debuting more unscripted shows than either GMA Network or ABS-CBN.
Although other TV networks have long resumed production for their on-going and upcoming shows, GMA Network took its time to respond to the current increasing local demand for new and fresh material.
