It seems that fake news peddlers are really prominent in the Duterte administration.
In a statement made by Department of Education Secretary Leonor Briones on November 24, she claimed that she did not approve the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) community learning hubs and notes that the OVP “directly coordinated” with local government units.
Her statement came when Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque asked her to clarify the announcement of Vice President Leni Robredo on Monday that they have a project in collaboration with DepEd.
This project aimed to conduct “face-to-face” classes of at least 6 students through the OVP’s learning hubs.
The DepEd secretary then claimed that they did not approve of such project from the OVP. As a result, actor Alex Medina called the secretary on his Twitter, “utak talangka”.
“Mga talangka talaga bagay lang sainyo pakuluan at lagyan ng suka,” he wrote on his Twitter account.

Alex has always defended the VP as she has been lambasted by other officials in the Duterte administration.
Alex wrote, “And on top of that kadiri na bastos pa ng comment ke bise. Akala mo hindi presidente, parang tambay lang na sumisitsit sa mga dumadaang babae. Kadiri.”
This statement was in reaction to when President Rodrigo Duterte humiliated VP Leni on national television regarding the actions taken by Robredo during the Typhoon Ulysses onslaught.

He also said, “Laban tayo! Laban sa kamalian! Biruin mo tumulong ka na nga, nakuha pang bastusin ka at pagusapan sex life mo as an address to the nation?? Habang sirang sira na buhay ng karamihan, may covid na binagyo pa. Bangon Pinas!!!”

Fake news yet again
Briones’ statement wherein she claimed that she did not give her approval on the OVP’s project was not true as the camp of VP Leni released a statement wherein the DepEd said that they welcomed the idea of Robredo saying that “it’s a good initiative”.
The Manila Bulletin posted a copy of the letter from the OVP debunking the statement of Briones.

It seems another controversy is brewing amongst the officials of the government.
