Former Kapuso host Kiko Rustia posed a challenge to Filipino journalists to keep up with their real roles in society.
In a tweet, Rustia gave the challenge to ABS-CBN journalist Karen Davila after she shared a tweet regarding US networks cutting off outgoing President Donald Trump’s speech saying, “Imagine if we did this in the Philippines.”
According to him, Karen and the others should have been doing the same here in the country.
However, most of the media in the country are afraid of retaliation from politicians that’s why they ended up parroting the propaganda and lies being spread by incompetent government officials.
“You should have been doing that in the Philippines, Ms. Karen. But sadly, the media here in the country just contributed to the propaganda of spreading the inaccuracies, lies, and deceit of our leaders: afraid of retaliation from the powers that be…or because of vested interest,” he tweeted.

Kiko’s reaction was about US networks cutting off outgoing President Donald Trump’s speech which alleges cheating and fraud in the US election without presenting solid evidence.
Meanwhile, Rustia clarified that his tweet wasn’t targeted at Karen alone.
In a reply to a netizen who said that Karen wasn’t part of those media people who are afraid of the powers that be, he said that his tweet was about cutting of airtimes or coverage of politician who obviously is spreading lies and disinformation on their public addresses.
“I was talking more about cutting the airtime and coverages (live stream included) of politicians and government officials once they start to veer away from facts and start spewing propaganda and lies.”
I think not with Karen Davila

“Yes, I also give credit to @IanEsguerra for his stance. I was talking more about the press releases and coverages of politicians (live stream included) that they should cut off if inaccuracies start spewing.”
