Director JP Habac had an interesting reaction to a vendor who tried to sell him a pirated DVD of his movie, I’m Drunk, I Love You.
Habac posted his reaction plus a photo of the obviously fake copy of his movie which even had random information as part of its packaging.
“Shoutout kay kuya na pinagbentahan ako ng pirated DVD ng sarili kong pelikula. Sana nagkaroon din ako ng sense of humor mo kasi bentang-benta ‘yun kay Mama.”

I’m Drunk, I Love You is an independent 2017 Filipino romantic comedy film directed and written by JP Habac which starred Maja Salvador and Paulo Avelino.
The selling of pirated DVDs in places like Quiapo is rampant. Director Mae Cruz-Alviar expressed her frustrations when her own film was pirated.
After the second week in theaters, her film Everyday I Love You, a romantic comedy starring Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano, hit social media and streaming platforms.
Cruz-Alviar said that since she started working in the film industry in the early ’90s, much has changed in terms of coping with piracy.
“We’re struggling. We’re struggling to survive, A difference I noticed is that we spend … we allot a certain amount in the budget to fight piracy.”
Netizens replied to Habac’s tweet.
“Direk sorry na ako may cinema copy.”

Production designer Benjamin Padero shared a similar experience of directors Brilliante Mendoza and Mel Chionglo.
“One time dinala ko si brillante mendoza tsaka mel chionglo sa quiapo para kumain sa moud halal chicken. after eating, sumilip kami ng dvds at binentahan si mel chionglo ng sarili nyang pelikula.”
