Kapamilya actress-host and Philanthropist Angel Locsin has belied Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr.’s accusation that her sister Ella went underground to join a rebel group.
In an Instagram post, Angel chided Parlade and made light of his accusation about her sister through a short message with a laughing emoji.
In her post, Angel shared their family picture celebrating the birthday of their youngest sibling with a caption, “Happy birthday sa bunso namin,” Angel also mentioned her controversial sister who’s also in the picture saying, “With our controversial sister na nasa underground daw sa Quezon.”
Angel’s Instagram post came after AFP General Parlade Jr. accused her sister Ella of joining the New People’s Army.
In a statement on Wednesday, October 21, AFP Southern Command Chief and NTF-ELCAC Spokesman Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. alleged that Angel’s sister Ella went underground in Quezon Province to join the NPA.
It was in the same statement that Parlade warned Liza Soberano and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray about ties to leftist women’s group Gabriela.
“The choice is yours Liza. And so with you Catriona. Don’t follow the path Ka Ella Colmenares (Locsin) took in the underground and NPA Quezon. I am sure Angel Locsin and Neri Colmenares will not tell you this,” said Parlade.
Parlade has been widely criticized on social media after that statement with many netizens tweeting to protect Liza Soberano or Defend Catriona Gray and Angel Locsin.
Liza, Catriona, and Angel are known to be outspoken with their opinions regarding socio-political issues.
Just recently, Liza guested in an online forum organized by Gabriela about women’s issues and women’s rights.
