Actress Kris Bernal revealed that her contract with GMA Network has expired and said that she is open to any possibilities with her career.
Many were shocked as Bernal appeared as the first guest on Chika BESH, a talk show in TV5 that is hosted by Pauleen Luna, Ria Atayde, and Pokwang.
On the said show, she revealed that her exclusive contract with GMA Network has expired.
Despite that, she still asked permission from her bosses for her appearance on the TV5 show.
She also revealed that she is uncertain about her career in GMA as she did not yet receive any offer for a renewal of a contract from her home network.
The actress also cleared out that her relationship with GMA has been smooth and they did not have any disagreement.
“I think, everything is still uncertain during these times and I totally understand that kung hindi pa po ako…kung wala pa pong final decision, naiintindihan ko po. Mas marami pang malalaki o mahahalagang bagay kaysa dito sa issue ko, di ba? Hahaha! Pero I’m still doing guestings with GMA. Yes, kinukuha pa rin nila ako. Trabaho is trabaho, tatanggapin ko po iyan.”
At present, she still appears on GMA shows, in some episodes of Wish Ko Lang! and Tadhana.
She also admitted that she is keeping her options open and expressed her gratitude for GMA network that has been her home for the past 13 years after StarStruck.
“Siyempre, I value my home network dahil sila po ang nagpalaki sa akin. They were the one who gave me my biggest breaks, who honed me to become better in my profession, in my passion, and talagang ang laki po ng tiwala nila sa akin. Ang laki-laki po ng mga binibigay nilang projects sa akin, lagi akong lead role, and I will be forever grateful for those times. Siyempre, malaki po ang utang na loob ko. And I’m just really praying to God where He will lead me. I trust His plans and I leave my options open.”
With the non-renewal of her contract, it also means that the GMA Artist center is no longer managing her.
“My first and only manager throughout my showbiz career for more than 13 years now was GMA Artist Center. So, during the contract, of course, exclusive ako to GMA. But then, it expired nga po, so of course, nawala na rin iyong exclusivity and effectivity ng contract. So, right now I can say that I’m a freelancer.”
She then jokingly stated that she is looking for a new manager.
“I have no manager yet. Why? Hindi pa po ako nakakapag-decide or talagang pinag-aaralan kong mabuti kung sino ang puwedeng maghandle sa akin. Siyempre, dapat comfortable ako and alam mo iyon… ayon. So iyon, iyon iyong status ko. So, right now I’m freelance and I have no manager yet. I’m looking for a manager. Charing!”
In 2016, it was also rumored that she was transferring to another network but she remained with GMA.
Kris Bernal is the big winner of the 4th season of GMA’s artist search, Starstruck.
After her stint in the said show, she was paired with Aljur Abrenica and they made several shows together like Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin? (2009), All My Life (2009) Coffee Prince (2012), and Prinsesa ng Buhay Ko (2013).
