The artists were out on the streets holding out placards that say “Defend Press Freedom”, “Stand with ABS-CBN Workers!” and “Give us a Chance to be Better”.
The protests were done as Congress was set to vote on the franchise bills.
Other Kapamilya artists were also seen rallying were RK Bagatsing, Elisse Joson, Nikki Valdez and Luis Garcia.
The denial of ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal by the House legislative franchise and good government accountability committees was due to the network’s alleged tax evasion, unfair labor practices, and political bias.
Cong. Carlos Isagani Zarate stated that a motion for reconsideration can be filed but only by those who voted with the majority, which in this case those who voted against the franchise renewal.
