Through her Instagram post on Monday, June 29, 31-year-old former Kapuso star Rich Asuncion happily shared with her followers her “new life” after migrating to Australia. She also showed her first paycheck from her new job as a waitress in a restaurant.
“Napakasaya ko ngayong araw dahil natanggap ko na ang una kong sweldo…at sa wakas ay di na ako nalulugmok sa lungkot. Malaking bagay to dahil sa panahon ngayon ang hirap humanap ng dahilan para sumaya,” she wrote alongside a photo showing a bike parked along the road.
While she’s still adjusting to her new life in Australia, Asuncion admitted that it took her a while to land a new job.
“Tagal ko rin naghanap ng work. Kailangan mo yun dito dahil pag sa bahay ka lang mas lalo kang malulungkot,” she said and added, “Marami naman kasing opportunities dito basta di ka lang mapili.
Following her own advice, the former First Princess of StarStruck decided not to be fastidious and tried working as a waitress there. “So yun na nga, dahil di na ako nagpaka-choosy sinubukan ko na ang pag wi-waitress. Casual job at a restaurant.”
In her not-so-long post, Asuncion revealed that she was uncomfortable with the idea at first, but eventually, she realized that there is nothing wrong with the job adding that working as a waitress is still related to the tourism course she took up in college which earned her a degree from the University of the Philippines (UP).
“Nung una nahirapan ako tanggapin pero narealize ko ngayon, ano naman ang masama dun. Part pa rin naman sya ng Tourism course na kinuha ko sa UP. At wala akong karapatan mag-inarte kasi nabigyan ako ng panibagong chance to start anew.”
Moreover, the proud mother and wife encouraged others especially those who are adapting to new changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to be grateful for what they have as one’s gain could be somebody’s loss.
“My point here is, I know most of us will need to adjust to a new/different life after this pandemic. And that’s not all that bad. To be able to survive through this is already a blessing. As hard as it may seem, look for the silver lining. Hold on and say I am still a champion.
“Be grateful because some people have lost more than you already have,” she continued.
Finally accepting her new life far from the glitz and glamor of being an actress, she stated: “Sa ngayon ay tanggap ko na at masaya na ko sa bago kong buhay kasama ang aking pamilya.”
Aside from her new job, Asuncion has also enrolled in some classes, and she “was also offered a full-time job at a Daycare where [she] can work closely with Bela.”
As she reaches new milestones in her new life, the Kapuso celebrity also shared that she and her husband Ben have already put down a reservation for their future home in Australia.
“Life is indeed a journey full of highs and lows but you should never stop moving and you always keep moving forwards,” she went on.
Apart from Asuncion, other celebrities have also ventured into doing other jobs since the COVID-19 pandemic has suspended shootings and tapings of shows.
In a documentary by Padyak Exploration, the Descendant of the Sun PH star Neil Ryan Sese shared that he has been working as a food courier using his bike to deliver orders of customers of his seafood business.
The 41-year-old Kapuso star further advised others to respect his fellow bikers, especially on bike lanes to avoid accidents.
Thai actor Pheerawas Khunlanunthwatn, better known as Amp has decided to become a Grab delivery driver which isn’t very surprising since other famous personalities are also doing it.
