Juan Karlos band’s frontman, JK Labajo, expressed his dismay over the unhealthy competition going on in the music industry.
Through an Instagram post on Monday, June 15, the young singer lamented over the fact that the true essence of music is being forgotten for the sake of fame or popularity.
He wrote, “Too much unhealthy competition going in our local music industry. Sobrang pataasan at unahan to the point where they seem to forget the true essence of music.”
Further, the ‘Buwan’ hitmaker pointed out what kind of scene would it be if only artists would unite and spread love rather than compete and drag each other down.
“Imagine if we all helped each other? Imagine our huge potential. What if we all stop being selfish for once?
“‘What if we all choose to set our musical and artistic differences aside and love each other? Glorious musical orgy! I can imagine what we can create as a whole…’ – Ang mga huling salita ng ipis bago siya napaslang,” his caption ended.

Juan Karlos ‘JK’ Labajo is one of the promising OPM artists in the music scene nowadays.
A lead vocalist of the band named after him, Juan Karlos, the 19-year-old singer rose to prominence when he finished as third runner-up after joining the reality singing competition The Voice Kids (Philippines Season 1) in 2014.
After his stint on the show, Labajo ventured into acting and debuted through the weekend drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya, playing as himself in his own life story.
Since then, he appeared on several series and films like Pangako Sa’Yo, A Love To Last, and Tatlong Bibe.
In 2018, he announced that he will be forming a band, Juan Karlos. The boy-band gained recognition and exposure when they released their second single “Buwan,” an alternative rock song. The catchy, feel-good lyrics of the song made millions addicted to it that they started making covers and challenges on TikTok and other social media platforms.
The song was hailed by MYX Music Channel as the “Song of the Year” in 2019. Aside from this, the Cebuano singer bagged the Awit Award for Best Performance by a Male Recording Artist and Awit Award for People’s Voice Favorite Record/Single for his song, “Buwan.”
