When asked how excited they are knowing that the Philippine adaptation of the hit Korean series, Descendants of the Sun is finally hitting Primetime, Jon Lucas could barely contain his happiness.
“Sobrang excited po ako lalo na’t napanood ko yung pilot episode ng DOTS, napakalupit, napakaganda,” said Jon.
Jon congratulated their Director, Dingdong Dantes, Jennylyn Mercado, and all the staff and crew because he has witnessed the hard work, the sleepless nights the team has put in just to give every Kapuso fan the best they deserve.
Lucas also shared that he is super excited to watch for reactions from the DOTS fanatics.

Jon stars as Benjo Tamayo also known as Harry Potter. He is one of the Alpha Team, the bubbly and the funny guy among the elite forces.
This was ex-Hashtag member Jon’s first big project as a Kapuso star after switching networks.
When asked about his thoughts and feelings about his new home, Jon said his co-stars didn’t treat him differently. “They welcomed me, gave me a warm reception,” he said. “I’m so happy to be here. I feel like everything’s flowing. I was quick to adapt to a new environment and I am a proud Kapuso.”
He jokingly wished that he will grow old with GMA Network roster of talents.
Meanwhile, Actor Paul Salas, whose career started with GMA 7’s Starstruck Kids alongside Miguel Tan Felix, Bea Binene and others, said that he is excited to see his part of the scenes on screen.
“Ang ganda, super unexpected and kaganapan, panooorin niyo”, Paul added.
Paul shared his fears as someone who grew up with GMA 7, switched management and networks, and is now back with GMA’s roster of talents. He felt the pressure wondering if he is still welcome at GMA but he misses working with his old acquaintances. But “being with the network seems happy after all”, Paul admits.
Paul Salas, plays a snatcher turned military man named “Marty” in #DotsPH. This is Paul’s second major project with GMA Network after staying at ABS-CBN for almost nine years.
Jon, Paul, and the rest of the Alpha Team, Dingdong Dantes included, joined a military boot camp as part of their preparations.
“The training was tough, but I’m very happy. It was a new experience for all of us. We learned new things. We did a rope course and a firing tutorial. We’re portraying the military so everything has to be done accurately, even the little details. Training with the military made me respect our soldiers even more. They lead a different and difficult life,” Jon related.
Jon also admits that they look up to their ‘Bigboss’ Dingdong Dantes as an inspiration. Though Dingdong is in his 40s, his physique is conditioned like he was in his mid-20s.
Kapuso Jenzel Angeles who stars as ‘Nurse Hazel’ from the medical team of Doc Beauty, is a new addition to the DOTS franchise. Her character is not found in the original version. She is said to be Bubbly and gets all that ‘kilig’ vibes from the two leads.
Descendants of the Sun tells the story of a special forces captain (Song Joong Ki) and a doctor (Song Hye Kyo) who fall in love while providing aid in a country dealing with a natural disaster and civil strife. Descendants of the Sun was a highly anticipated drama in 2016.
Directed by Dominic Zapata, the Philippine adaptation stars Dingdong Dantes and Jennylyn Mercado. It premiered on February 10, 2020 on the network’s Telebabad line up replacing The Gift.
