Director Jerrold Tarog confirmed that the Kapamilya actor Paulo Avelino has joined the cast of Star Cinema’s Darna.
In 2018, Erik Matti resigned from the long-delayed work film remake Darna due to “Creative differences with its producer. In the following year, the Star Cinema announced that Jane De Leon will play the role of the iconic Filipina heroine “Darna” after Liza Soberano backed out due to health reasons.
During a Facebook live on Cinema ’76’s account while video calling film producer Alem Ang, Director Tarog confirmed that Avelino is one of the cast members.
“Lumabas na iyong si Paulo ay kasama sa cast, so totoo iyon,”
The director could not discuss the other members of the cast as he had signed a non-disclosure agreement.
“Iyan iyong naka-NDA. Alam ko may plan iyong marketing for announcing the cast, so ayoko muna silang unahan,” he related.
“Marami pang actors na kasama. Hintayin na lang natin iyong marketing, kasi baka masira ko iyong plano nila!”
