LJ Reyes is struggling with anxiety and insomia amid COVID-19 pandemic

Kapuso actress LJ Reyes admitted that she is experiencing insomnia and anxiety amid coronavirus pandemic. She revealed this in a post on her Instagram account on the 22nd day of the enhanced community quarantine.

“It’s been hard. Ako lang ba? Or kayo rin?

“I want to share that I haven’t been sleeping well at night. Honestly, since Summer was born, puyatan naman talaga. Pero, napansin ko since 3 weeks ago, mas ‘di ako makatulog talaga no matter how sleepy I am.”

Though it’s normal to feel stress in this crisis, she can’t resist thinking about it every night.

“And it feels like an everyday battle — every day trying different ways to put myself to sleep. Sabi sa akin baka stress.

“At this difficult time, sabi nila normal. Akala ko ‘di ako nase-stress sa mga nangyayari. But maybe subconsciously, I am feeling it.”

She said prayer has been helping calm her down.

“Pero I have been praying every single day! Every second! And honestly, it calms me down,” LJ said.

Her partner Paolo Contis continuously making her happy was also an effective way to forget her problem for a while.

“Kaya rin siguro itong baliw na to ‘yung binigay ni Lord sa akin para no dull moments!

“Kahit pa minsan pagod na ako sa mga jokes nya! Gusto n’yo ba kayo naman makarinig ng jokes nya? Kahit na ‘pag ganitong nagta-try ako mag-selfie tapos bigla syang magpapa-KSP!

“Sa mga ganitong panahon, kasi worrier ako, narerealize ko bakit sya ang nasa tabi ko! #gratefulmondays”

According to the World Health Organization(WHO), the coronavirus pandemic has a big impact on mental and psychological well-being of the public.

On March 18, WHO released guidelines to support individuals who are experiencing anxiety and fear in this crisis.

Some of its guidelines are:

  1. To be empathetic to those affected by the disease.
  2. Don’t call them “cases” or “victims”
  3. Reduce watching news about coronavirus disease that can trigger anxiety or stress.
  4. Give support to the frontliners in the community
