Movies are often based on books, but with “One More Chance” the novel, it’s the other way around.
The popular 2007 movie starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo that made household names of their characters Popoy and Basha respectively, was recently resurrected as a novel by Star Cinema and ABS-CBN Publishing.
Present during the book launching at the Fairview Terraces on August 1st, 2015, were novelist Juan Miguel Sevilla, screenwriters Vanessa Valdez and Carmi Raymundo, Director Cathy Garcia-Molina, and lead stars John and Bea. The event was hosted by Dimples Romana and MOR 101.9 DJ Jhaiho.
Juan is the writer behind box-office hits such as “Miss You Like Crazy”, “My Amnesia Girl”, and “Unofficially Yours.” It took him almost six months to write the book, but the wait was worth it. Sources say his latest book is doing well in bookstores nationwide. His novelization will give movie fans a chance to revisit Popoy and Basha’s world once more and discover new things about them since changes were made in the book to keep up with the times.
Star Cinema and ABS-CBN also released a remastered and restored version of the movie on DVD. This will give fans the opportunity to compare the original screenplay with the book. It will transport them back in time to that heartbreaking scene when Basha said, “I hope you say it’s still me. Let it be me again.” Or perhaps you prefer Popoy’s line: “She loved me at my worst, you had me at my best, and took everything for granted.” No doubt fans will be touched when they read or hear those words again.
In this age of love teams, the Bea-John tandem has stood the test of time. The two have starred in several hit movies and their on-screen chemistry is amazing.
Will the novel give us new insights into the romance between Popoy and Basha? will the two find happiness apart or will they give love one more chance? Buy the book now and avoid sleepless nights.
