- Politicians especially members of the House of Representatives and the Senate were recently questioned by the public for allegedly prioritizing themselves for COVID-19 tests
Jake Ejercito and Arnold Clavio posted hilarious memes on social media that mocked the banner held up by congressmen before a special session.
On Monday, March 23, 2020, the House of Representatives held a special session to hear and pass a Malacañang-backed draft measure seeking emergency powers for President Rodrigo Duterte.
A photo of Speaker of the House of Representatives Alan Peter Cayetano and some congressmen waving a banner was criticized by netizens and turned it into memes.
The text on the banner read, “TOGETHER WITH DOCTORS AND FRONTLINERS, WE WENT TO WORK FOR YOU SO PLEASE STAY HOME FOR US!”
On his Instagram Stories, Clavio shared hilarious memes about the banner with the original words changed into funny phrases, like “We steal as one” and “Pahingi Bulalo Boyet!”
The Kapuso newscaster and television host also shared the banner edited with a basketball ring.
Lastly, he shared a photo that compared workers from Congress and from hospitals.
The photo with the congressmen was captioned with “Buwaya at work” while the photo of medical workers was titled with “Frontliners at work”.
Meanwhile, Ejercito retweeted a meme of the banner with an image of a clown edited on it.

Cayetano was earlier slammed by netizens for calling the country’s shortage in PPEs (Personal protective equipment) as a piece of fake news. Cayetano claimed that there are enough PPEs for frontliners which some medical workers denied online.
Politicians specially members of the House of Representatives and the Senate were recently questioned by the public after they allegedly used their influence to pressure the Department of Health to put them on the priority list of tests for the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The criticisms came up when a medical doctor complained on social media about the suspected “palakasan system” of the officials in the testing for COVID-19.
