  • Robin Padilla praised the humility of ABS-CBN President Carlo Katigbak after he apologized to Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.

Actors and die-hard Duterte supporters Philip Salvador and Robin Padilla were present at the Senate hearing on the ABS-CBN franchise.

In an Inquirer tweet, the two were seen at the back of the session hall observing the proceedings.

The two are known die-hard supporters of the President who will do everything to defend Duterte.

In fact, prior to the hearing, Robin made headlines after issuing a series of statements lambasting ABS-CBN.

Padilla accused the network of unfair labor practices and other violations justifying calls for its shutdown or non-renewal or franchise. He also slammed artists who openly support ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal.

“God is great!! para sa mga superstar ng abscbn at gma hinahamon ko kayo humarap ng live at ipagtanggol nyo ang mga network niyo. ilabas natin ang mga contract natin at ikumpara natin sa mga kasama natin sa trabaho sa taping at shooting,” Padilla wrote on his Instagram account.

In his continuous social media tirade, Padilla even accused Coco Martin of maltreating his co-workers on the set of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.

The two received numerous negative reactions from the netizens upon seeing them on screen.

We must stop giving airtime to Robin Padilla.
We must not waste time.

Mga ingrato.
-In the 90s, a jobless Philip Salvador was practically fed by ABS thru Kris’ earnings hanggang hiwalayan siya
-In 1998, ABS signed Robin up for movies and a sitcom after serving jail time for drugs. Lent a hand to his brothers, in-laws, wife, and now-popular nephew. https://t.co/laaug1pavN

However, right after the hearing, Padilla changed his tune and commended ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo Katigbak for his humility in apologizing to Duterte.

In a report by TV Patrol, Padilla and Salvador have also said that they are not against the renewal of the Kapamilya network’s franchise.

Padilla and Salvador are also former Kapamilya stars.

Robin’s few last projects with ABS-CBN were the daytime teleserye Sana Dalawa Ang Puso with Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap and the reality talent search Pilipinas Got Talent were he sat as a judge alongside Angelo Locsin and Freddie M. Garcia.

Robin also lead the cast of Kapamilya sitcom Toda Max also with Angel Locsin. He also did a hosting job with the ABS-CBN game show Game ng Bayan in 2016 and Pilipinas Win na Win in 2010.

Philip Salvador, on the other hand, was part of the first season of Home Sweetie Home playing the father of Toni Gonzaga and husband of Sandy Andolong. He also did several teleseryes like Ang Panday, Maging Sino Ka Man, Maging Sino Ka Man Ang Pagbabalik and Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo.
