Alden Richards dubbed as GMA’s Primetime Prince, Pambansang Bae and Pambansang Dimples has always been the fantasy of girls and girls at heart.
He is every inch of your prince charming, knight in shinning armor. He has been paired with Louise delos Reyes and did shows and commercials together. While the pairing seemed good, it lacked the mass appeal and eventually the network decided to separate them from each other. Alden was then paired with the Primetime Queen Marian Rivera for the TV show Carmela but everybody knows the pairing was not meant to last.
GMA was having a hard time looking for a partner for the Primetime Prince.
Meanwhile, an internet sensation was making waves.
TAPE Inc. saw her potential. Maine Mendoza a 20-year old stunner kept netozens glued to their screens as she dubsmashed famous celebrities including Kris Aquino. TAPE got her an put her in Eat Bulaga’s Juan For All All For Juan as Yaya Dub, the snobbish Yaya of Donya Nidora played by Wally Bayola. She immediately captured the Kapusos’ hearts thru her over the top dubbing skills and funny antics.
On an episode of Eat Bulaga, while she was dubbing a very funny sound, the cameraman focused Alden Richards delightfully watching her. When she saw Alden watching her, the snobbish persona of Yaya Dub changed and it was very apparent she was smitten by Alden’s good looks. For the first time on National TV. Yaya Dub showed emotions and actually smiled. People form the studio screamed when they saw her reaction. Jose and Paolo teased her while Joey and Allan kept on teasing Alden. She came up with the “Pabebe Wave” which is now popular among teens.
The chemistry was undeniable.

GMA-7 found an odd pair that might actually work. Different fan clubs have already been formed in a short period of time making it the fastest growing loveteam pf today. The video when they first shared an onscreen kiss have been shared on social media countless times. They have been trending on social media everyday since then.
The night the episode was shown, Alden did a dubsmash of James Reid Bahala Na and followed shortly, Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza uploaded her version dubsmashing Nadine Lustre’s part. Fans went crazy. AlDub was born.
