- Willie Revillame renews his contract with GMA-7.
- Kapuso Network variety show Wowowin is now a ‘Wowowin Primetime’ that airs from Mondays through Saturdays.
TV host-comedian Willie Revillame happily renewed his contract with GMA-7 early this week.
Willie started his hosting stint since 1980s together with Randy Santiago for GMA’s noontime variety program Lunch Date, a rival noontime to Eat Bulaga! back then.
In 1998, he started co-hosting the ABS-CBN noontime show Sang Linggo nAPO Sila. After the show went off-air in order to make way for Magandang Tanghali Bayan. Other shows he hosted within the network were Willingly Yours, Masayang Tanghali Bayan, and Wowowee. Then he moved to TV5 where he hosted Willing Willie, Wil Time Bigtime and Wowowillie.
In March 2015, he marked his homecoming to the Kapuso network via the weekly-variety program Wowowin, and premiered on Sunday afternoon, May 10. Eventually, the once-a-week show became a weekday-variety program in February 2016.
This year, together with his Wowowin staff, the host inked his contract with the presence of GMA’s Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Felipe S. Yalong, and President and COO Gilberto R. Duavit Jr.
During his interview with Aubrey Carampel, Willie shared that GMA felt like a second home to him after staying with the network for almost five years.
“Dito sa GMA, e, parang niyayakap ka. Dito nararamdaman mo ‘yung concern at saka dito nagkakaisa ang lahat e. Ang sarap ng feeling dito, kasi lahat ng makakasalubong mo binabati ka. Siyempre, very supportive rin ang management, of course si Mr. Gozon, Mr. Duavit, Mr. Yalong, lahat, not just the bosses. Maganda rito may unity, nagkakaisa at nagmamahalan,” he shared.
It was announced that starting February 15, Wowowin Primetime will be adding another day of fun for the Kapuso viewers.
“Mondays to Fridays tayo ‘di ba? That’s the contract nang one-year and what we did with this one is an additional day,” Willie said.
Aside from the additional airing day, Willie also announced the revival of the hit segment The Will to Win.
“Medyo mabigat [ngayon] kasi sobrang dami ng sumali [sa auditions]. Ang grand prize kasi two million in cash, isang kotse, and a brand new house and lot. Ibibigay ng Wowowin ang lahat ng kailangan mo, kasi sa tingin ko na kung magbibigay ka ng tulong, ibigay mo na ang lahat. Kaya kung magaling kang kumanta, sumayaw, mag-acrobatics, kahit ano pang talent mo na gusto mong ipakita sa mundo at sa ating mga kababayan, dito sa GMA at sa Wowowin mo ipakita yan. Very open tayo,” he said to the press.
The comedian-host is happy to bring happiness and laughter to the Kapuso audience.
