Rhap Salazar never made it as big as Charice or Darren Espanto, but this young singer definitely knows he’s got the talent! He’s even deemed as the next Jed Madela. But, his comment last Sunday made a lot of heads turn because it was just feisty and fierce for he firmly believes that people need to assess talent a little better.
In one of his tweets last weekend, he said: I hate seeing artists lip-syncing on TV. Looks like the singer isn’t fond of these so-called artists, who are just pretty faces, disguising as talented, when in fact there are far better dancers and singers out there in the industry.
Aria Clemente, Rhap Salazar’s singer friend agrees and even said: “they made us do that in Shoutout then nag-complain sila in the end na bakit tayo nag-li-lipsync. Rhap followed: “Nahiya naman tayong totoong singers.”
The young singer also expressed his dismay that these pretty faces who aren’t really good at singing surpass those who actually has the voice. “Yung iba nagkaka-album pa.”
In the end, Rhap Salazar ended his tweet warning followers to take his post with a grain of salt. He said, it’s just his opinion and he hopes for your understanding.
The said tweet was posted in the midst of Nadine Lustre and James Reid appearance on ASAP 20. In defense of JaDine, the phenomenal tandem of Lustre and Reid are actually singers before actors, handled by Viva Records.
Salazar and Clemente are part of ABS-CBN’s young vocal ensemble. Salazar was once a contestant in Little Big Star while both he and Aria won gold medals for the Philippines in the World Cup of Performing Arts (WCOPA), same competition won by Jed Madela a few years back.
Recently, Rhap Salazar made waves with his Lay Me Down cover, watch it here:
