Miss Q and A grand finalist It’s Showtime Chad Kinis recently signed a movie contract with Viva Films. He was cast in the 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival movie The Mall, The Merrier topbilled by Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis.
In addition to this, Chad is also part of Darryl Yap’s upcoming movie for 2020, #Tililing.
With his rising popularity as a comedian, is Chad preparing to be the next Vice Ganda?
“Hindi po!” Chad quickly responded.
The comedian clarified that he wants to establish his own name in showbiz instead of being compared to Vice.
“Kasi wala na pong magiging next Vice Ganda. Wala na pong magiging next Vice Ganda kasi Vice Ganda is the epitome of greatness and discipline of the comedy world.
“Yon po ang tingin ko sa kanya, eh, kasi kung alam n’yo lang po kung gaano kadisiplinado si Vice lalo na sa kanyang craft. Iba siya. Kaya nga yung narating niya deserve na deserve niya yon,” he explained.
Chad also praised Vice for his discipline as a professional comedian.
“Si Vice po, for example, pinakamaliit na bagay po sa disiplina lalo na nung nagsisimula pa lang siya sa comedy bar, hindi siya maghuhubad ng sapatos niya sa entablado hanggang merong tao at merong customer. Hindi siya bababa ng entablado hangga’t oras niya.
“Kasi meron pong mga entertainers na pag konti na lang ang tao, tamad na. Siya, kahit isang table, dalawang table yan, bigay pa rin. Performance level pa rin. Kasi yon naman po ang binabayaran sa amin it doesn’t matter kung gaano kadami ang tao. What matters is kung ano yung trabaho mo,”
“Yon po ang tinuturo sa amin ni Vice—na just have to be disciplined kasi kung hindi po siya disiplinado hindi siya makakarating sa ganyan. Yung pananamit niya, pamumuhunan sa sarili, pag-aalaga, yon ang natutunan namin sa disiplina niya. Napaka-strict niya pagdating po sa propesyon niya,” Chad shared.
Prior to his break in the It’s Showtime competition, Chad already had acting stints in several films which include Abay Babes (2018), Amnesia Love (2018), and recently S.O.N.S. (Sons of Nanay Sabel) (2019).
Kapuso comedian Super Tekla was also asked a similar question as he is being compared to Vice as well. Their respective shows The Boobay and Tekla Show and Gandang Gabi Vice are also pitted against each other. In an earlier interview, Super Tekla chose to shrug off the pressure of being compared to Vice, whom he described as far more successful than him.
