Kapamilya host and comedian Vice Ganda on Monday refused to give a comment on a media query regarding Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
During the press conference for his 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival entry The Mall, The Merrier in Quezon City, Vice was asked by a member of the press what he would do if Quiboloy asked his real-life partner Ion Perez to join in mall shows.
“I love you, but sorry, I’d rather not comment on that para mas masaya ang Pasko natin, di ba? Again, I love you, but I’d rather not comment. Gusto niyo ba may nag-aaway ‘pag Pasko?” Vice replied.
“I’d rather not comment. Di ba? Magtulungan tayo to spread good vibes,” he added.
The veteran columnist who asked the question, then said she only wanted the Unkabogable star to tell Quiboloy to “stop.”
“Ang gusto ko lang sabihin mo sa kanya, ‘Stop!'” the columnist said.
Vice then answered: “Eh bat hindi ikaw magsabi niyan sa kanya? May kakayahan ka, may panulat ka di ba?”
Quiboloy is the founder and leader of the religious group, the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name, Inc.
He earlier claimed that he stopped one of the deadly quakes in Mindanao because he said so.
The pastor said people should be thankful to him.
“Sabi ko, ‘Lindol, huminto ka.’ Huminto,” he said in the October 30 episode of Give Us This Day, a weekly TV show produced by the pastor’s religious group.
“Pasalamat kayo sa akin kasi kung hindi ko pina-stop ‘yun, marami kayong magigiba diyan, mamamatay kayo,” he added.
Quiboloy later became a subject of jokes and memes online.
Even Vice made him the subject of jokes on It’s Showtime last November 5.
Doing his usual banter with co-host Jhong Hilario during the “Tawag ng Tanghalan” segment, Vice quipped that the pastor would probably be the greatest enemy of “Dalisay” portrayed by Coco Martin on the top-rating ABS-CBN TV series, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
“Alam mo kung sino ang magiging pinakamatinding kalaban ni Cardo? Naku, kabahan na si Cardo… Feeling ko si Quiboloy, ‘yung nagpahinto ng lindol,” the comedian said, drawing laughter from the audience.
“Si Quiboloy lang ang magpapahinto ng ‘Probinsyano.’ Abangan niyo ‘yan,” he added.
Vice went on to challenge the pastor to put an end to “Ang Probinsyano” and to the monstrous traffic on EDSA.
“Hinahamon kita, Quiboloy. Ipahinto mo na ‘Ang Probinsyano.’ Napahinto mo pala ang lindol eh. Napakayabang niyo pala eh,” he said.
“Sabi niya raw, stop. Sige nga, punta ka ng gitna ng EDSA, stop mo ‘yung traffic doon,” he added.
Vice earned the ire of radio broadcaster Mike Abe who slammed him for his remarks against the pastor.
Quiboloy, on the other hand, answered the comedian’s dare with sarcasm.
In his “Spotlight” program on SMNI, the pastor said EDSA traffic could not be stopped because it’s already not moving.
He instead lectured the comedian that he should have said to make the traffic flow again.
“Ipa-stop ko daw ang traffic sa EDSA eh mag-isip ka muna bago ka magsalita. Paano kung nai-stop ang naka-stop na. Hindi na kumikilos,” said Quiboloy.
“Siguro ang dapat mong sinabi, flow of traffic, make it faster. Tuloy, traffic. Tuloy-tuloy wag hihinto,” he added.
As for the Ang Probinsyano dare, the pastor asked Vice how many months he wanted it to end and maybe the network won’t be operating also because of its pending franchise renewal woes.
“Kailan mo ba gusto mapa-stop ang ‘Probinsyano‘? Isang buwan, dalawang buwan, tatlong buwan, apat na buwan?” Quiboloy said.
“Ikaw pili ka? Baka sa apat na buwan hindi lang ‘yung ‘Probinsiyano‘ ang ma-stop. Baka pati yung network mo stop na ‘yan,” he added.
Quiboloy has maintained close ties with President Rodrigo Duterte, who has repeatedly launched verbal attacks against ABS-CBN due to what Duterte claimed was allegedly slanted reporting.
Duterte has been issuing threats not to renew the franchise of ABS-CBN since 2017 following accusations that the network did not air his political advertisements during the 2016 presidential campaign.
The ABS-CBN’s franchise is set to expire in 2020.
