The husband of Kapamilya actress Dimples Romana is currently confined in a hospital.
During her launch as the new endorser of JuanLife personal accident insurance at Edsa Shangri-la Hotel today, Dimples said her husband, Boyet Ahmee, was being treated for the condition of “severe sleep apnea.”
Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder that occurs when a person’s breathing is interrupted during sleep.
People with untreated sleep apnea stop breathing repeatedly during their sleep.
This means the brain and the rest of the body may not get enough oxygen.
“Huwag po natin pagtatawanan ang paghilik. May kakilala ba kayong ganon na nag-snore tapos nag-i-stop (breathing)? Si Boyet medyo matagal iyong sa kanya. Nag-aalala ako,” the actress said when asked about her husband’s hospital confinement.
“Ayoko lang nung wala ako sa bahay, hindi ko siya kasama, tapos hindi ko siya magising. Ayoko ng ganon. So always prevention is cure. Iyon rin naman ang punto kung bakit siya nagpa-opera,” she added.
Dimples said she’s very grateful to the people in the hospital and to her in-laws from Cagayan de Oro for taking good care of her husband when she’s not around.
“Masarap lang din na iyong mga magulang niya ang nag-aalaga kapag wala ako,” the 35-year-old actress said.
“Pero nagsuhol na ko don. Nag-iwan na ko ng ice cream. Mamaya babalik ako don. Lugaw naman ang dala ko. Soft diet kasi siya,” she added and laughed.
Dimples and Boyet have been married for 16 years and have two children.
The actress is now widely known for her iconic villain character, Daniela Mondragon on ABS-CBN’s afternoon drama series, Kadenang Ginto.
Dimples became all the more popular following a scene from Kadenang Ginto, where she as Daniela was dressed in a fiery red dress with matching shoes, and defiantly pulling red luggage down the street.
The scene led to the appearance of Daniela’s memes on the Internet, wherein she was photoshopped in different places. It went viral on social media.
The actress admitted it’s still a constant struggle to maintain her stature while doing her best as dutiful wife to Boyet and loving mom to Callie and Alonzo.
For all these, the actress has gained the admiration of many — advertisers included, the latest of which is the JuanLife.
Roselle Masirag, general manager of Agile Insurance Agency and Business Technologies Inc., said Dimples is a relatable brand endorser for JuanLife because “she represents the firm’s target market: family nurturers who are central in every Filipino family and will do anything to ensure their loved one’s security and success.
“They are resilient, problem-solvers, solution-seekers and entrepreneurial by heart, who lives day-by-day making decisions for their family,” she noted.
According to Masirag, JuanLife was designed to serve the Filipino people.
Unlike the typical personal accident insurances in the market, JuanLife covers a wider age range — from 7 to 60 as opposed to the common 18 to 60—and provides benefits for bodily injuries caused by accidents and acts of nature such as flood, earthquake, among others.
JuanLife personal accident insurance policies are also being offered at affordable prices of P300 and P500.
“Tayo. Ako. Kailangan natin ito. Kahit ako, kuha ako ng JuanLife ngayon, kung may mangyari sa akin bukas, immediately, my beneficiaries will enjoy, kung P300 ang binili ko, P150,000 right away. Kung P500, then P250,000 right away,” Dimples said when asked about JuanLife.
“Lahat may kailangan. Pero ang pinaka na nakikita ko d’yan na may kailangan ay ‘yung kadalasan na nagmo-motor, nagko-commute at sa dami ng tao ngayon at magpa-pasko pa man din, ang mga aksidente araw-araw at maya-maya nangyayari ‘yan. Kaya mas mabuti na equipped ka at meron kang kakampi sa ganitong bagay,” she added.
