In yet another colorful speech, President Rodrigo Duterte described himself and political allies Senator Bong Go and Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano as the brightest stars of Philippine politics.
In a speech in Taguig, Thursday, Duterte likened himself and his two allies as the most famous personalities in the country’s current political sphere. However, he also admitted that this fame will never last and will soon fade.
“Kagaya ko, si Senator Bong, Speaker, we are the brightest stars today kung tingnan ka sa political na langit at makikita mo kami shining. But I know that in about two years’ time that life would dim and I would be nothing,” the president said.
“Ganun ang buhay. There is a time for everything in this world. A time to be young and a time to be old. And a time to be grateful.” he added.
The 74-year-old Duterte is set to end his presidency in 2022.
