Rock band and YouTube sensation COLN has officially joined the Universal Records roster of diverse up-and-coming artists.
COLN first came together as friends who desired to make music together. The kind of music that they found to be lacking nowadays—rap and rock. A couple of their inspirations include Rivermaya, Razorback, Kendrick Lamar, and Metallica. This five-piece band is composed of Cong Velasquez – also known as popular YouTuber CongTV (Vocals, Lead Guitar), Awi Columna (Vocals), Yow Andrada (Bass), Gio Herrera (Lead Guitar), and Nins Denso (Drummer).
COLN makes a huge impact with “Pake,” their first release under the label. Reminiscent to classic rock hits in OPM past, yet still fresh to modern ears, the band pumps their fists high as they perform an anthem of indifference to whatever struggles that people may face in their everyday. A lot of Filipinos will definitely relate with each high energy declaration of “Wala akong pake” (translated: “I don’t give a damn”) from the band, despite the obstacles and oppression around them. With its universal message, and its rocking sound, “Pake” is bound to create more buzz amidst the building fanfare around the band.
“Pake” is now available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and Amazon Music under Universal Records.
