This November, Aga Muhlach and Alice Dixson star in the psycho thriller, Nuuk.
The movie was shot in Greenland whose sub zero temperatures made it a challenge for the cast and crew. Alice even had retakes because they had difficulties talking due to the coldness.
“May isa lang akong sasabihin. Dito sa Greenland sa totoo lang, nu’ng ginawa ko ang pelikula ang ganda-ganda ng katawan ko. Nakakalungkot lang kasi kung kailan gumanda ang katawan ko, naka-jacket naman ako parati sa pelikula,” Muhlach said.
“Actually hindi namin kaya ang walang jacket, pero pag nasa loob ng bahay, medyo naka-sweater ka lang. Pero when you’re out and filming, you really have to cover up,” the actor related.
Director Roni Velasco shared that the coldness was intolerable.
“Hindi ka puwedeng maulanan doon kasi papasok ang lamig. One time umulan ng snow, sina Aga at Alice tumakbo sa loob ng bahay kasi hindi mo kakayanin talaga ang lamig.”
The actors and the crew really struggled making the film. Muhlach shared their experience on fighting the cold just to be able to have a good take for their scene.
“Oo kailangan kong tumakbo sa loob at ayaw ko ng lumabas, ayaw ko ng mag-take talaga pero pag-take normal ka ganyan, pero pag cut! (minuwestrang naninigas na sa ginaw). Kahit mga crew, we have to stop for a while kasi hindi na nila kaya.”
But why should audiences watch Nuuk?
At the press conference held at Discovery Suites, Aga shared why Nuuk is worth the watch.
“Lagi kasing sinasabi na, ‘Oh Aga you promote the film, promote the film.’ Meron din akong feeling na, I told Alice nga na ‘you know sometimes in many years of my existence in the industry, sometimes ang hirap ding magsabi ng ‘Sana po panoorin n’yo ang pelikula, sana po ganyan.’ Ang sa akin, ito ginawa namin ang pelikula malalaman naman kung kailan ang playdate sa tulong ninyong lahat.”
To Aga, this film is work of art and he hopes that the Filipinos will support it.
“It’s our art, we enjoyed doing it, we worked hard for it so this is all we have to offer, so we just hope people will like it and people would have a way to watch it, that’s really up to them.”
Aga feels thankful for the big films that he has been offered despite his age.
“I have these big films coming out left and right you know, parang I have Seven Sundays (2017), First Love (2018) with Bea, then I have NUUK this one with Alice, then I have Miracle in Cell no 7 for the Metro Manila Film Festival, so what more can I ask for?”
Nuuk is the first Filipino film to be shot in Greenland, by local production house Mavx Productions and was produced in cooperation with the Embassy of Denmark. Directed by Veronica ‘Roni’ Velasco, the movie will premiere on November 6, 2019.
