Newest Kapuso Koreanovela ‘Mr. Sunshine‘ performed weakly, recording a pilot episode rating of 4.0 percent with a low of 3.7 percent on its first week. According to GMA Network, Mr. Sunshine‘ is the highest-rating Korean cable drama of 2018.
‘Mr. Sunshine‘ follows the story of a young boy, Eugene Choi (Lee Byung-hun), who was born into slavery yet he survived the traumatic US expedition to Korea. After his success in America, he comes back to his hometown as a United States Marine Corps officer where he will meet and fall in love with the aristocrat’s daughter, Go Ae-sin (Kim Tae-ri). As the story progresses, Eugene will discover the plot of foreign forces to colonize Korea. He then will lead an inspiring revolution that will free his beloved nation and the woman he loves.
Completing the powerhouse cast are Byun Yo-han as Kim Hee-sung, Kim Min jung as Kudo Hina, and Yoo Teon-seok as Goo Dong-mae.
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN’s ‘Encounter‘ starring Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum, continued to lead the Koreanovela timeslot. This week, ‘Encounter’ peaked at 6.1% last Wednesday (September 4) while it got its lowest on Friday (September 6) with 5.0% while its rival every Friday ‘Bubble Gang’ won with 5.2%.
‘Encounter‘ is about two people of vastly different backgrounds and personalities who begin a whirlwind romance after a chance meeting in Cuba.
