After six years away from his original network, Rafael Rosell has found his way back to ABS-CBN Network.
But why did he chose to continue his acting career with ABS-CBN again?
At the media conference of Parasite Island, a drama horror series, Rafael Rosell as one of the lead actors of the series, was asked why he chose to come back to ABS-CBN.
“I spent the year na walang ginagawa, guesting guesting lang, tapos si Popoy (Caritativo) manager ko, he talks to both networks, prinisent sa aking kung ano ba gusto mo sa gawin sa next ano mo, if ever gusto mo matuloy ‘to, ABS or GMA?”
“So dun namin napagdesisyunan na, it would be great to come back home, to just feel the difference after six years again, and yun ang napagdesiyunan ko.”
But did he ever think of retiring during his one-year break?
“I want more mini-retirements but I still want to act after, considering the quality of this network, and the prestige and the family, now that I’d built that I grew up with, dito sa network na ito, so sabi ko I want to come home.”
What did Rafael miss about ABS-CBN?
“On many levels kasi, e. First level, yung mga tao, yung mga kasama ko dati, the family that I built, Second, yung treatment nila sa taping. Third, just the overall quality.”
“Kapag pinanood mo sa TV, alam mo talaga ABS-CBN quality. Alam mo na puwede ito ipalabas sa ibang bansa. And lastly, yung reach ng ABS-CBN ngayon, lalung-lalo sa social media, sa internet. Ang widespread talaga ng reach ng ABS-CBN.”
He was really happy with the love he got from the viewers of his Maalaala Mo Kaya Episode last August with Yen Santos.
“Nung ginawa namin ang MMK, as in ayaw tumigil ng Twitter ko, Instagram ko, Facebook ko. Sabi ko, ‘Wow, this really reaches a lot of people.’ Na-miss [ko] talaga is mileage.”
When asked why he changed to GMA in the first place, Rafael said he wanted to explore,
“Explore ang buong showbiz bago ako tumanda, dahil gusto ko talagang ma-experience ang buong field. Working with the best channel for the longest time, sabi ko it was time to look at showbiz from a different perspective.”

Rafael even observed some differences between the two networks.
“Different work ethics, iba yung goal ng iba’t ibang kumpanya. I won’t go to further details about that. Pero there’s a big difference: work ethics, environment, treatment ng paggawa ng isang show, promotion.
“Magkaiba talaga, and I’m happy that I was able to witness and experience it.”
But when he was questioned about his loyalty, Rafael answered.
“When it comes to loyalty, I appreciate that people stay to the channels, pero I think the whole network wars, nadadamay ang artista diyan. There’s opportunity for all of us, pero hindi namin ma-grasp dahil sa network wars.
“I just wanted to come back home. And now that I’m home, I’m really happy and I’ve missed this channel.”
It was in 2012 when Rafael chose to venture with GMA. He starred in Aso ni San Roque (2012), Temptation of Wife (2012), Maghihintay Pa Rin (2013), The Borrowed Wife (2014), Because of You (2015), Sinungaling Mong Puso (2016), and Impostora (2018).
