During his renewal of contract with GMA Network, his home for 9 years, Alden Richards was given a new title – Asia’s Multi-Media Star. He earned this new title from being a new blockbuster star via hit Star Cinema movie Hello, Love, Goodbye. He also had remarkable teleseryes in the past like ‘Alakdana‘ (2011), ‘One True Love‘ (2012) and ‘Mundo Mo’y Akin’ (2013) on GMA Network. He also ventured into recording, His first self-titled album released in 2013, was certified Platinum by PARI (Philippine Association of the Record Industry). Alden recently won the Asian Star Prize in the Seoul International Drama Awards for the second time.
Alden has been one of Kapuso’s leading men ever since GMA Network gambled on him as Louise delos Reyes’ love team partner in their first teleserye ‘Alakdana‘ up to their last project together ‘Mundo Mo’y Akin.‘ He joined ‘Eat Bulaga‘ in 2012 where he became a household name with a title ‘Pambansang Bae. It as an accidental pairing with Maine Mendoza that led to the formation of AlDub. They were hailed as a phenomenal love team at the peak of their popularity and were followed by legions of fans.
Alden did not always have it so easy. Before reaching this overwhelming success, Alden had faced ups and downs in his career. Having big expectations, his first-ever teleserye with Maine titled ‘Destined To Be Yours‘ (2017) flopped big time. It earned low ratings and negative reviews from fans. His teleserye comeback ‘Victor Magtanggol’ in 2018 received the worst reviews from critics and bad feedback from viewers. Alden and the show even became the subject of mockery online, usually criticizing the show’s poor animations and epic fails.

Earlier this year, Alden and Maine decided to go on separate career paths to do solo projects. The two still host ‘Eat Bulaga’ together but won’t be pursuing other projects together.
Alden has earned praises from the critics and fans and became a Box Office star by playing the role of Ethan in now the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye.’ Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina even praised him by saying she saw her favorite actor John Lloyd Cruz in him in this movie.
“As of Sept. 3, 6:15 PM, our worldwide gross is 880, 603, 490 million pesos. This is now the highest grossing Filipino film of all time,” Olivia Lamasan revealed.
Right after the movie, Alden will be starring in a new drama series, ‘The Gift’, where he will play an extraordinary character named Sep, directed by LA Madridejos. He will be paired with a new Kapuso talent Thia Tomalla.
