Jollibee, a popular fast-food chain in the country, recently released the latest advertisement for their Bacon Cheesy Yumburger with Joshua Garcia.
However, unlike the previous ads, The Killer Bride star went solo in the latest ad.
Garcia usually endorses consumer products opposite his on-screen tandem partner and ex-girlfriend Julia Barretto.
His solo appearance became one of the hot topics online. On Twitter and Instagram, netizens aired their reactions and sentiments about this new ad of Garcia. To sum it up, many are wondering why Barretto was out of the picture.
Some netizens think that Jollibee purposely dropped the actress because of the controversy she’s currently involved in.

A few months ago, many were shocked to see pictures of Barretto with Gerald Anderson, especially since Gerald was in a relationship at the time with Bea Alonzo. Bea posted a cryptic message on Instagram hinting at infidelity in her relationship with the actor. The 31-year old actress later revealed that no formal breakup happened between her and Anderson, instead, “he just started not talking to me.”
Netizens lambasted Barretto and Anderson for allegedly cheating on their respective partners. For months, the two celebrities were targets of hate and criticism from netizens.
However, both Barretto and Anderson‘s camps denied the rumors.
In an interview with Barretto, she admitted that she’s in the process of healing from all the pain she had been through for the past months and wishes for the issue to die down.
Whether the controversy is the reason behind Barretto’s absence in the recent ad of Garcia, many of her fans hope to see her in her own Jollibee ad as well.
