The newest afternoon series of GMA Network Prima Donnas is the eighth teleserye to compete against the top-rating Kapamilya show Kadenang Ginto which premiered in October 2018.
While their show has yet to win against its rival, Prima Donnas star Aiko Melendez is happy and grateful that their show is now catching up with Kadenang Ginto since it began airing last August 19, 2019.
On her Instagram account, Aiko posted a meme that included her and Kadenang Ginto stars Beauty Gonzalez and Dimples Romana as a remembrance of their friendship despite the rivalry of their shows.
The meme text said, “Yung may galaan ang tropa. Ikaw na hindi ready.”

In her lengthy post, Aiko said that the three of them will remain as friends despite the ongoing tension between their shows.
“Christine Marie Gonzalez Crisologo (Beauty) and Dimples are my friends. I have worked with Dimples in many projects already,” she wrote.
“While Beauty and I would exchange messages on IG direct 🙂 We do have a common friend. And I always make it a point to Congratulate her whenever I get to watch her on TV. Like her episode in MMK directed by Nuel Naval sabi ko ang husay nya dun. Kaya whatever memes you see now, is all for show and work lang kami. Walang Personalan. Nagkataon lang magkatapat ang shows namen, but at the end of the day, I am sure they have the same take as I am na TRABAHO lang walang personalan.”
She added that she was happy with the success of Kadenang Ginto and also grateful that Prima Donnas is keeping up a good fight.
“I’m sincerely Happy for the success of their show, But am also happy and grateful with Primadonnas because i can say di kami nalalampaso naman sa ratings and Maraming Salamat sa mga commercials namen kasi puno po kami lagi 🙂 Thank You Lord! So ayan whether be it KENDRA vs DANIELLA o KENDRA vs Romina. The 3 of us have a common goal we all want to give the viewers a choice. Kasi pareho maganda po show namen ❤️ Peace and LOVE”Aiko said.
Kendra is the name of Aiko’s villain character in Prima Donnas, while Beauty and Dimples play Romina and Daniela, respectively, in Kadenang Ginto.
Prima Donnas is a family drama series that tells the story of triplets who were deprived of a better life, but find their way back to where they belong as the rightful heiresses.
Meanwhile, Kadenang Ginto is a story that depicts how greediness can backfire against you. It tells the story of two families with their scarred and entangled past that instead of bringing them closer, it tears them apart.
Though it was one of the most anticipated series of GMA Network, Prima Donnas did not win over Kadenang Ginto during its pilot episode.
According to the data gathered from Kantar Media, Kadenang Ginto won the ratings game with 24.0% while Prima Donnas only scored 12.9%. NUTAM data also showed Kadenang Ginto cementing its lead with 10.0% while Prima Donnas debuted with only 4.9%. This is so far the weakest debut of a teleserye against Kadenang Ginto.
