- ABS-CBN’s The Killer Bride is a reunion series of Maja Salvador and Geoff Eigenmann with Janella Salvador and Joshua Garcia
There are pretty big similarities between the two new offerings on Philippine TV: Hanggang sa Dulo ng Buhay Ko on GMA Network and The Killer Bride on ABS-CBN. Aside from having horror as their genre, these two new teleseryes use ‘ghost brides’ as a central character.
Under the direction of Dado Lumibao, The Killer Bride is about Camila (Maja Salvador), who is excited to marry the love of her life, Vito (Geoff Eigenmann). On their wedding day, however, Camila wakes up holding a knife, with her dress stained in blood—causing Vito and the others to think that she took part in an unspecified crime. She eventually died in detention as the facility where she was confined went up in flames. Many years later, Camila makes her presence felt as she seeks revenge on those who wronged her by possessing a young woman named Emma (Janella Salvador).
Hanggang sa Dulo ng Buhay Ko (originally titled as The Haunted Wife) is a cross between a paranormal and psychological thriller and a family drama. Its story revolves around Yvie (Megan Young) and Matteo (Rayver Cruz), who are childhood sweethearts who get married. Together with their adopted son, they happily move into their new family home, along with Yvie’s best friend and cousin, Katya (Kim Domingo). But their bliss is quickly replaced by fear as Naomi (Kris Bernal), Matteo’s ex-girlfriend, will stop at nothing to disrupt their perfect lives—dead or alive. The series is directed by Jorron Lee Monroy.
During the grand presscon for ABS-CBN’s upcoming series, Maja was asked to react about the comparison. Since Salvador is friends with Rayver Cruz, one of the lead stars of Hanggang sa Dulo ng Buhay Ko, she knows the story of the other show and she believes that it’s very different from theirs.
“1000 percent po ako na magkaiba! Bilang kaibigan ko si Rayver, nagtanong na ako. Hahaha! 1000 percent po ako, magkaibang-magkaiba, so yun.”
While The Killer Bride is slated for airing on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida, GMA Network chose to put Hanggang sa Dulo ng Buhay Ko on GMA Afternoon Prime.
