Ever since Idol Philippines aired its pilot episode on April 21, 2019, there seems to be no shortage of praise and criticism about the show.
Vice Ganda is one of the judges of the singing competition along with Moira Dela Torre, James Reid, and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid. Some find his way of judging disagreeable, thinking that he favors appearance over talent and easily says “yes” when the contestant is a male.
Here are some of the comments of netizens online:
vice ganda on idol philippines is so condescending as if she got any singing talent at all like… the clownery im- pic.twitter.com/JPqRzw0MkI

As a music major with years of extensive experience in performance and music education, manifest ko lang na sobrang kupal mag-judge ni Vice Ganda sa IdolPh. He doesn’t know a good voice when it hits him straight in the face. How tf is he qualified to judge? #sorrynotsorry

Okay, the judges of Idol Philippines is pissing me off.
The guy who sang with the reggae rendition of 'If I ain't got you' was good PERIOD.
Then this vice ganda had the audacity to say 'walang dating sa akin' —–

Petition to remove Vice Ganda and James Reid in Idol Philippines. Why the hell those clowns in that place judging people with talent in singing. When those 2 doesn't have the talent to even compete with the contestants.#IdolPhilippines #IdolPH #abscbn

When asked about this, the comedian stated, “Wala! E mga basher nga ‘yan, bakit ako mag explain sa kanila?“
“Kahit anong explain mo ‘yung mga taong ayaw sa iyo, kahit anong explain mo hindi makikinig. Pero ‘yung mga taong mahal ka, kahit hindi mag explain mauunawan ka,” he added.
“Lahat naman ng tao may masasabi sa isa’t isa. That’s life accepted ko na ‘yun.”
On a lighter note, when asked about the real score between Vice and Ion Perez, the Unkabogable Star simply answered, “Happy naman ang mga buhay namin ni Ion, that’s the real score. Ion and I are both happy.“
Aside from Idol Philippines, Vice is currently busy promoting his newly launched book titled Jose Marie Viceral: Tutoy. Ang Fantastic Kwento ng Vaklang Twoooo!! which topped the bestseller list upon its release.
Tutoy details his life as a young lad who lived on Tambunting street in Manila and the struggles and experiences he encountered that moulded him into what he is right now.
