Kapamilya actress and vlogger Alex Gonzaga has come under fire for her comment about re-elected Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez during a campaign sortie of a party list she was endorsing.
Netizens and supporters of Olivarez reacted to the actress describing the mayor as “may pagkamadugas” during the weekend leading to May 13 elections in a video that went viral but has since been deleted.
The controversial comment soon reached the camp of the re-elected Mayor which soon led to reports that the actress was now “persona non grata” or unwelcome to the city of Parañaque.
Parañaque City Administrator Ding Soriano has denied that any such resolution was made.
He confirmed that Olivarez is aware of the actress’s comment, but is not taking it personally “because it’s part of politicking.”
Soriano also responded to Alex’s comment, saying, “Let the people decide whether may basehan ang sinasabi niya.”

Alex is known for her candid humor and expressive personality as seen in her vlogs.
During an interview, older sister Toni Gonzaga said that her sibling has learned from the experience.
“She will move on from this. ‘Yung babaunin niya dito ‘yung lesson na natutunan niya… Si Alex, she’s taking everything one day at a time, and she’s maturing from every challenge na pinagdadaanan niya,” she said.
“Iyon siguro ang maganda rito: she knows when she falls down, and when she commits a mistake, she owns up to it, and she moves on and she learns,” Toni added.
Toni added that Alex is working on a personal apology to Mayor Olivarez.
“She said that she’s dealing with the matter privately with the city already, and they’re going to have a formal talk and have a formal meeting,” she explained.
Alex is currently dating businessman, Mikee Morada. The couple became open about their relationship last January 2017. Aside from acting and hosting, she also runs her vlog about makeup tutorials and travel adventures.
