Mustard Music proudly presents its latest signing, 19 year-old singer-songwriter Timmy Albert.
Timmy is no stranger to the music scene. The singer-songwriter credits his parents as his main source of inspiration, as their guidance in his learning to play instruments, writing songs, and taste in music growing up were vital in becoming the artist he is today. Since then, he has discovered his sound, performed around different school gigs and events around the metro, and has even released several songs prior to signing with mustard music. One of which, emotions away, has already garnered more than 1 million streams on Spotify.
Timmy Albert’s contract signing with mustard music – with (L-R) Universal Records Operating Manager Peter Chan, Managing Director Kathleen Dy-Go, and Business Managers Tata Albert and Dutch Albert.
The singer-songwriter describes his music as a fresh take on synth pop, citing influences across eras from Foreigner, Phil Collins, Richard Marx, Madonna, to the more modern artists like joan, The 1975, and LANY. Timmy signed with the Universal Records sublabel last March, joining established and rising OPM acts in the roster such as folk-pop band The Ransom Collective, hip-hop duo Good Kid$, singer-songwriter Issa Rodriguez, rapper Joey tha Boy, and more.
This year, Timmy has released ‘lovebug’ his debut single under the label. Anthemic and catchy, ‘lovebug’ is an ’80s love song made for a modern generation. Talking about the song, he says “it’s about catching that “kilig” feeling when you meet someone new and the possibilities of your future with the person. At the time I wrote the song, I was really inspired by the ’80s sound and the classic ’80s movies I was watching, so I wanted to use that as a concept.”
The future is colorful for this young singer-songwriter, and music fans worldwide should soon expect to catch this ‘lovebug’, now streaming on iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon Music, and Spotify.
The music video was premiered on MYX last weekend and is now available for viewing on YouTube.
