Maine Mendoza and Arjo Atayde have been experiencing hate comments from netizens for the past months, after revealing their ‘exclusively dating’ status to the public.
It even came to the point that the bashing turned into cursing, which not only affected the two but their families as well, most especially on Arjo’s side whose mother, Sylvia Sanchez, and sister, Ria Atayde, are both in the showbiz industry.
In an exclusive interview on ‘Tonight with Boy Abunda,’ Arjo’s mother, Sylvia Sanchez, finally expressed how she felt for the Kapuso star Maine Mendoza knowing that it is her relationship with Arjo that made a massive controversy in their family. With no doubt, Sylvia said that she is very proud and thankful to Maine for standing up for her son, despite the risk of having her career disturbed. She also praised how strong Maine is, that is why she positively gave her approval to her.
“Nasa top ka. Maine Mendoza ka. Hinahangaan ka. Grabe yung career mo at alam natin na puwedeng maapektuhan ‘to… pero nilaban mo ang anak ko. Nagsalita din siya na, ‘We’re exclusively dating.’ Nagpapasalamat ako kasi yun ang sinabi ng anak ko, sinegundahan niya.”
“Ang daming nagsasabi noon na nangangarap lang anak ko, stalker lang ang anak ko… masakit yun para sa isang nanay, Tito Boy. Masaya ako kasi hindi natakot si Maine at pinanindigan din niya yung alam niyang tama.”
In return, Sylvia assured that her son Arjo is also not the type who easily quits, for just like his father he will also fight for his relationship.
“Anak siya ng tatay niya. Ilalaban ni Arjo si Maine. When in fact nilaban na.”
Though she still has not met Maine yet, she is already looking forward to it. Right after when everything is fixed, both their schedules and the issues.
“Pag okay na, pag relaxed na then go…So maghihintay ako kay Arjo kung kailan niya dalhin si Maine at sinabi niya sa akin, ‘Mom, soon. Papakilala ko na siya sa inyo.”
