- Marlo Mortel’s performance was disrupted by a drunk man during an out-of-town show
- Mortel went to Mamburao to perform for the municipality’s 68th foundation anniversary celebration
For almost all regional events, and even mall tours, it would be the stuff of dreams to be invited onstage while a celebrity is performing on stage. But for some reason, sometimes, it turns into an altercation. Some problems with energetic fans, or, in this case, a drunk man.
Mid-way through his performance of JRoa ft. MC Ren’s hit song ‘Di Ako Fuckboy‘ in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro, Kapamilya star Marlo Mortel, could not hide his shock as a drunk man attempted to make a scene. Thanks to the quick response of the authorities present during that evening.
He shared his performance on Instagram: “I’ve had a few wild encounters during shows but this time I actually got scared. I didn’t know how to react, we were told that he was drunk. As performers, we put ourselves in a vulnerable postion everytime we go out. We genuinely want to make you guys happy but we do ask for a little bit of respect in return. Tao lang din po kami,” he wrote.

We were able to ask Mortel through his Instagram account what really happened during his performance. “Hi po it was just a normal event bale first song ko palang and in the middle of the song i went down. People came to me for hugs and pictures including the girl in yellow that’s why I got her na rin to go up with me para i-serenade like we (artists) normally do. But maya-maya nagulat na lang ako may katabi na rin kaming lalaki sa stage.”
He continued, “Di ko ma-figure out what he wants, he was acting weird (we were later told he was drunk). Nung una, parang nakikipagselfie tapos bigla akong tiningnan ng masama where I felt very uncomfortable and in danger. He was yelling “anak ko yan” kaya I even said “hello po” in the midst of the situation but he was continuously giving me the looks and we were face to face, pwede nya kong nasapak or worse that’s why I got scared. Yung mga tao rin nagpanic, even my P.A. went up on stage. Thankfully, na control rin naman ng security pero nagsisigaw pa rin daw sya when they took him down kaya i was very uneasy hanggang makauwi sa hotel kasi baka biglang andyan.”
Even though he admitted he’s a bit afraid, he just wants everyone to be careful especially the performers for instances like this.
“I don’t wanna over react, i’m not saying he’s a bad person. Pero sa job kasi namin, may mga instances na nasasaktan talaga kami, nakakalmot, nasasabunutan, nababatukan, etc. lalo pag sobrang aggressive yung crowd. Pero first time ko ma encounter yung ganito sa stage, kaya normal lang naman siguro na matakot. As much as possible, I don’t want anyone to get hurt even anyone from the audience kaya let’s all be careful and respect each other pag may events so there won’t be any problems.”
