- Kiko Estrada is back with the Kapamilya network
- He stars in the film Bato: The Gen. Ronald Dela Rosa Story
- Kiko prefers to be seen as a great actor than a box-office star
Kiko Estrada is now a Kapamilya actor, after clarifying his network transfer; emphasizing his kind of success in the showbiz industry in an interview with PEP.ph.
Kiko is known from a family of artists. His mother, Cheska Diaz, is a former actress, and his father, Gary Estrada, is an actor. He is the grandson of Filipino movie icons Paquito Diaz and George Estregan. So it is indeed no doubt that he himself is a great actor.
This was seen in his performance in the film Bato: The Gen. Ronald Dela Rosa story, where he portrayed the young Robin Padilla. His charm also overwhelms as the camera loves his every look in the big screen. But Kiko straightforwardly said that he prefers being seen as a great actor rather than be a matinee-idol. This is the reason why he is not afraid to take any role.
“I believe that longevity is the key to success. I don’t really like to be famous. I just to want stay here for long and be good.
“I wanna produce quality works. Gusto ko yung mga gagawin ko, panoorin at magiging proud sa akin yung family members ko or future family ko.”
He eagerly expressed how he wants to become successful in a way that he wants people to see him in the limelight as “a great actor” and not as “a handsome actor.”

“Gusto ko lang na magkaroon pa ng mga films. I just wanted to be that successful.
“I just don’t want to be a blockbuster star. My plan A is to stay here forever, have a good career and good roles.”
Kiko already shared this sentiment when he was considered one of the young “hunk” actors. It was in an interview on “Tunay Na Buhay” last July 2018 that he emphasized how he doesn’t want to be just a hunk image.
“I just want to be known as a good actor. At first, that’s why, hindi ako nagpalaki ng katawan. But, I guess, you have to look a certain way to get good roles. And I always want to get good roles. I have to look a certain way.”
Now that Kiko Estrada is back with the Kapamilya network, he hopes that his journey in the new network would bring a good deal to him.
“If I believe I’m being taken care of, then I’ll stay loyal to my network. But, of course, if they’re not taking care of you… I’m not saying they’re not, but of course, you have to think of what’s best for yourself and it’s actually my management’s decision. I don’t have my decision in this. For me kasi, I want to pick my roles, I’m very picky with my roles because I believe that you have to give a hundred and ten percent in that. And I always give a hundred and ten percent in my roles, so whoever gives me the best roles and whoever can boost my career up, that’s where I am.”

Kiko actually used to be a Kapamilya when he starred in ‘Angelito: Bagong Yugto’ in 2012 and ‘Annaliza’ in 2013. But in 2013, Kiko was pulled out of ‘Annaliza’ as he and Diego Loyzaga were assigned to play leading men to Julia Barretto in ‘Mirabella.’ However management pulled them both and replaced them with Enrique Gil and Sam Concepcion. This also prompted Kiko to transfer from ABS-CBN to GMA Network.
