In an interview by manilastardard.net, they were asked what their success formula is.
“Well, I think a lot of people can relate to what I’ve been through in life. In spite of your huge accomplishments in life, there is no reason for you to change. You should always remain humble, be appreciative and grateful of your blessings and learn how to share them,” the young star said in Tagalog.
“I have no pretensions whatsoever. For me, what you see is what you get. It’s so light and easy when you know people like you because of who you really are. When you’ve nothing to hide, you’re free to move around. That’s why when I become the target of bashers, I just kept quiet. I don’t want to react because I know the truth,” she continued.
In turn, Edward agreed that it’s more worth it if you’re true to yourself.
“We’re perfectly aware that some people find us somewhat weird and it’s just okay because that’s what we really are in reality. We’re comfortable being such. I feel like many people these days, particularly the millennials, can relate to our weirdness considering that they’re more or less our age.”
The lad is aware of the fact though that not everybody can they express their ‘weirdness’ in the open.
“Unfortunately, there are some who are forced to hide it. Like one of my mom’s friends. Basically, she’s loud and funny just like Maymay. One time, she went to a concert together with her bosses. She had to behave and hide her funny side. She had to be quiet unlike when she’s in the company of her friends who know the real her. As I’ve said, this is perhaps the reason why people watching me and Maymay can relate to our craziness.”
Maymay points out that it’s her being “masa” which makes her click with the general public.
“I believe so! They can relate to me. When you think that your idol is a star, it’s hard to reach out to her, you just can’t talk to her. This is the reason why I’m doing my best to get to know my fans better. As much as possible, I allot time for them, I communicate with them. I show them who I really am. I let them feel that I’m not that hard to reach,” she ends.
