Ria Atayde gets emotional when Boy Abunda asked her about Maine Mendoza. She suddenly burst into tears as she defended her brother Arjo Atayde against his bashers.
Arjo and Maine had their first project together in ‘Jack em Popoy: The Puliscredibles’ together with Coco Martin and Vic Sotto. Photos on social media led the people to the conclusion that they are romantically involved. It is quite hard for some avid ‘AlDub’ fans to accept the fact that their idols have their own respective relationships.
While some fans are happy to see them happy in their own relationships, some can’t help but post their sentiments all over social media to the point that the nonsense are hurting both parties.
It is really hard for a sibling to witness the masses go against the happiness of her brother. Some netizens don’t realize that despite being a public figure, actors are human too with the same primal needs just like ordinary people do.
“At the end of the day, I keep saying it’s their lives. I get that we are public figures but let us own our lives naman, especially with him,” Ria said during her interview on “Tonight with Boy Abunda.”
It is really hurtful for Ria that people accuse her brother of using Maine for fame.
“My God, a lot of people sinasabi that his successes now have to do with her. That’s so unfair. He’s worked so hard to get to where he is and to discredit his work? Wow ha. Not fair at all,”
According to Ria, Mendoza and her brother are still getting to know each other but she doesn’t see anything wrong if they eventually become a couple.
“I’ve met her. I like her. She’s very real,” she said. “I see no problem with that [if maging sila].”
When asked if she thinks her brother is happy with Mendoza, Ria said: “Yes. It’s not kasi my story to tell. Right now, as far as I know, they are really getting to know each other still and they are friends.”
Meanwhile, Mendoza also took to social media to defend both Arjo and Ria.
“I would appreciate if you’ll show some respect not just to our family but to theirs as well. Just stop this nonsense and let us all do better instead. They get projects because of their talent, not because of any other reasons. Once and for all let’s give credit to whom its due,”
One of Arjo’s remarkable TV appearances was in “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” together with Coco Martin where he won “The Best Drama Supporting Actor” on the PMPC Star Awards for Television. Proving his talent as an actor prior to the romantic involvement with Maine Mendoza.
