2018 was a year of good shows for both ABS-CBN and GMA, the long-running rival networks. This year, we expect the same, especially ABS-CBN which provided most of the top-rating show for 2018.
Without further ado, here are 12 upcoming Kapamilya shows and movies for 2019 that you should keep an eye out.
1 The General’s Daughter
Angel Locsin will be coming back on Philippine television as a fighter in the dubbed biggest action-drama series for 2019. Joining her is the all-time favorite Albert Martinez, along with Maricel Soriano, Paulo Avelino, JC De Vera, Tirso Cruz III, Janice de Belen, Eula Valdez, and the LoiNie loveteam, Loisa Andalio and Ronnie Alonte. The show is expected to premiere this January at a primetime slot.
2 Sakaling Maging Tayo
McCoy de Leon and Elisse Joson may be facing a controversy recently in which the two are currently having a silent war. Despite this, the McLisse loveteam is still able to make a movie and will soon debut in cinemas on January 16.
3 World of Dance Philippines
The biggest dance talent search in the world has finally arrived in the Philippines and will soon air on Philippine television this January 12. The dance competition will be judged by renowned Filipino dancers such as Billy Crawford, Maja Salvador, and Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano. It will be hosted by Luis Manzano and Pia Wurtzbach. The grand winner of the World of Dance Philippines will be able to compete in the US franchise.
4 Minute To Win It: Last Man Standing
Aside from the World of Dance Philippines, Luis Manzano will be hosting another show – the new season of Minute To Win It. The first batch of 1-minute contenders will gather on stage starting January 7. Who will be the last man standing?
5 Mea Culpa
Dreamscape Entertainment Television has another one in the line and it features some of the hottest stars in the Kapamilya network. Mea Culpa stars Jodi Sta. Maria, Bela Padilla, Sandino Martin, Tony Labrusca, Ketchup Eusebio, Kit Thompson, and Ivana Alawi. Dan Villegas will be directing the series.
6 Search for the Idol Philippines
Not just two, but three international show franchise will air on ABS-CBN this 2019. The Philippine version of American Idol titled the Search for the Idol Philippines. Judges of the show are yet to be announced, but the host will be no other than the Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez.
7 Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit
RSB Drama Unit gave a big surprise for Kapamilya fans before the holiday season started by posting a photo of Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit cast. The show will star the child actress Sophia Reola, Kaye Abad, and Cristine Reyes.

8 Untitled LizQuen movie
Since Liza Soberano’s Darna has been delayed for like the “nth” time, and Enrique Gil’s solo project is still pending, Director Antoinette Jadaone took the opportunity to grab the LizQuen loveteam and placed them in a yet untitled movie under Black Sheep Productions. The director stated that viewers should watch out for a more mature LizQuen.
9 Eerie
Eerie is a horror-thriller movie that is not just going to launch in the Philippines, but all of South East Asia. The movie features ABS-CBN’s most respected drama actresses namely Bea Alonzo and Charo Santos-Concio. The story revolves around a clairvoyant counselor who investigates a murder in a Catholic school, only to find out that something is not of the mundane.
10 Heart of Mine
Star Cinema once more grabbed the Kapuso star Jennylyn Mercado and the former Kapuso leading man Richard Gutierrez in a romantic-comedy movie that will surely delight the fans. JM de Guzman will also be part of the movie. The release date is still unannounced.
11 Open
Arci Muñoz and JC Santos bring a fresh loveteam to the cinemas with their upcoming movie Open. The show is produced by Black Sheep Productions and under the direction of Andoy Ranay. More details about the show will be announced soon.
12 Clarita
Jodi Sta. Maria will have a busy 2019. Aside from the series Mea Culpa, she will also star in the horror movie Clarita. Now fans are eager to see Sta. Maria does a horror film once more after her great performance in her previous film Maria Leonora Teresa.
