- Gray won the Miss Universe 2018 crown on December 17.
During the question-and-answer portion, the 2018 Miss Universe beauty pageant, Catriona Gray, the country’s representative to the most prestigious tilt for beauties around the globe–was asked about her stand on the legalization of Marijuana use.
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo believed that her position might’ve been influenced by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Duterte is pro legalization of medical Marijuana in the country, which is required for critical illnesses and medications.
When Catriona was asked about how she thought of the legalizing the use of Marijuana, she answered:
“I’m for being used on medical use, but not so for recreational use. Because I think if people were to argue ‘what about alcohol and cigarette?’
“Well, everything is good, but in moderation. Thank you.”
Panelo then said, “Her position is an adoption of the Palace’s stand.
“Other than the people’s, there can be no greater voice than the President. The single biggest influencing voice is the President.
“It is the President that influenced her position or it may be the result of her own study after listening to various arguments pro and con.”
