The Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Oscar Albayalde recently stated that he does not agree with how FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano is portraying the Philippine policemen; singer-actress Agot Isidro made a suggestion to address the issue.
He ordered that the PNP will no longer support the show with regard to road assistance or provide props.
The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) chief Rachel Arenas that this misconception was against the guidelines first hand. However, the show provided a reasonable balance of good and evil in portraying the PNP that’s why they allowed it, besides it has provided good morals.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is also threatening to sue the show if the plot will not be changed.
MTRCB announced that their department, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano production, the PNP, and DILG will meet up soon to finally decide the dos and donts of the show.
All organizations are looking forward to coming up with a memorandum of understanding.
Meanwhile, while the meeting is yet to take place, Isidro already came up with her own solution.
She suggested that the DILG should produce their own show to compete with FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano using the government-preferred TV network PTV4.
The Coco Martin-starrer action-drama series will continue to follow its plot until all concerned parties shake hands to an agreement.
