Admit it or not, a lot of us are fans of celebrities whether in movies, novels, or even reality shows on TV. We follow them simply because we want to be part of their journey.
However, we don’t often get to meet and mingle with these famous personalities in real life. And in the rare moments that we do, not everyone can genuinely reach out and wow us.
A video of singer and theater actor, Poppert Bernadas, who have been getting rave reviews from critics and colleagues from the world of Philippine music and theater, is recently making the rounds online after giving in to a song request from nail spa attendants.
It was the end of the workweek at a nail spa in Bonifacio Global City when Poppert was dragged by friends for a pampering session. Being the happy people that they are, Poppert’s friends tried to make the attendants loosen up a bit, feel at ease and to just be themselves after a long day’s work. Jessa, the attendant who was giving Poppert a foot spa, thought he looked familiar after seeing his blind audition that made all four coaches at a popular singing contest on TV turn for him.
After confirming his identity, the attendants excitedly asked Poppert to sing “Luha” a song from the blockbuster Filipino musical “Rak of Aegis” which he is also a part of. Despite having a tired voice from a previous gig with his singing group, he still wholeheartedly sampled the song he sang from his fateful audition that earned him a spot in the show. To the surprise of everybody, Jessa who had a personality fit for a comedienne, also comically sang with Poppert while she was massaging his feet, making the whole experience more fun and memorable.

Poppert, who has been singing professionally for about eight years since he was discovered by Ryan Cayabyab in 2007, says that he has been asked to sing many times by strangers, but this experience is special because people now ask him to sing a specific song that has already become a huge part of him since joining the contest. He is aware that there will be more who will ask him to sing out of the blue. He confesses, “I love giving joy to people who support me. I may not be able to oblige each and every time I get such requests but one thing I want them to know is that I appreciate all they do for me and consider them as blessings. I wish for all of them to continue being respectful and supportive.”
