GMA Network is ready for Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla’s (KathNiel) much awaited return to primetime via remake of the 2000 hit soap opera “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” on the Kapamilya network slated to air in early 2015.
Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo will reprise the roles of Angelo Buenavista and Yna Macaspac, which was originally played by Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa. Joining the cast are Angelica Panganiban as Claudia Buenavista and Jodi Sta. Maria, who will breathe life to the iconic role of Amor Powers, first played by seasoned actress Eula Valdez. Rory Quintos, who originally directed the series 15 years ago, will still take the helm in the much-anticipated teleserye. “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” earned domestic and international success through the years, earning the title as the most successfully distributed canned Filipino television series worldwide. The ABS-CBN series was aired in neighboring countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore and China, and was even syndicated in Ghana, Botswana, Cameroon, Kenya, Zambia, Tanzania and Namibia.
Meanwhile, GMA Network’s answer to KathNiel’s “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” remake is an original series titled “Once Upon A Kiss” will be topbilled by Bianca Umali and Miguel Tanfelix (BiGuel). BiGuel is definitely not as hot as KathNiel, but Bianca and Miguel quickly gained lots of fans with their exposure in the hit primetime show “Nino,” Kapuso’s only hit show this year. Their series “Once Upon a Kiss” aims to show the sweet feeling of being awakened with a kiss. Directed by Joyce Bernal, supporting “Once Upon A Kiss” are Michael de Mesa, Cris Villanueva, Marielle Pamintuan, Tessie Tomas, Manilyn Reynes, Kempee de Leon, Nova Villa, Mylene Dizon, Al Tantay, Maricar de Mesa, Frank Magalona, Betong Sumaya, Sabrina Man, Miggy Jimenez, Cai Cortez and Gabby Eigenmann.
2015 will be an exciting year for big teleseryes. Let’s wait and see which among these upcoming series will hit and flop on the hearts of TV viewers.
