Jacqueline Comes Home: The Chiong Story stars Meg Imperial and Donnalyn Bartolome as Jacqueline and Marijoy Chiong. Seven men allegedly kidnapped, raped and murdered the two sisters in 1997.
As she portrays a controversial role, Meg took to Twitter and Instagram to defend her role and the movie which is under VIVA Films.
Twitter rants
A netizen created a thread asking people to boycott the movie. The netizen pointed out that Donnalyn and Meg should have researched their role properly.
“And pls. The movie would just plainly give this generation a false idea about that certain case. Paco and the rest of the men deserves JUSTICE. So disappointed with @DJBDonna, @megimperial they should’ve researched about the role they’re going to take and not just take it. Shame”
Meg also quoted the tweet and noted that they researched the role.
“If you think we didn’t research about it then you’re the one who’s wrong here. We did our presscon today & it is not about who’s side….”
Meg also continued that the movie will relay what the Chiong family went through after the incident.
“The core is about what the family went through after the incident. If you’re not open to what the movie can offer then you’re being biased.”
The netizen asked Meg about her opinion on who is responsible for the sisters’ disappearance. She answered that the movie does not say so and the suspects are not the focus of the movie.
“We did not make any statement regarding who’s responsible for the disappearance of chiong sisters. Its not the focus of this film. Thanks”
The netizen also noted that this movie is just pointing out which side are they in. According to Meg, the movie will not point the finger at anyone.
“Have u seen the film? Guess not. Its based on real life story yes. But we didn’t point finger to anyone. Its not a biased film.”
Meg emphasized that the movie will feature what happened to the Chiong family after the incident.
“U know what happened to the other family. But, How about the chiong’s? Do you know their life after? Its an emotional set up.”
The netizen beseeched that people should also watch Give Up Tomorrow.
“I watched give up tomorrow before shooting so i know what u mean 🙂 but who are we to judge? We’re just reacting base on news.”
The netizen insisted to watch Give Up Tomorrow for the second time. Meg also persisted that the public reacted base on what people watch on the television news.
“I told you. I WATCHED that film already. And yeah. People are like that. We react base on what we hear from news.”
The netizen tried to twist Meg’s words against her and the movie.

Meg ended the altercation with the said netizen with a saying from their director, Ysabelle Peach Caparas.
“Like what our director said. This is not about the other family. Dis is about the family’s suffering regarding the lost of their daughters.”
Meg also revealed the reason behind the title.
“That’s why its “JACQUELINE COMES HOME” from the word HOME…family. :)”
Meg posted a long text on her Instagram Story. In the said IG Story, Meg wrote about how a person will always try to make themselves right. She also pointed out that small-minded people are the biased ones. The suspects may be guilty or not, the Chiong family still lost their daughters.
“Ang tao kahit anong paliwanag mo kung meron silang gustong patunayan para bida-bida sila wala ka ng magagawa. Sila rin yung mga tao na di na binabasa o pinakikinggan sinasabi mo dahil iniisip na nila agad paano sila aatake sayo. Small minded people. You are the one who’s biased. Be careful in pointing fingers. We didn’t kill anyone. We’re doing our job (and) the film is not biased cause in the first place, (it’s) not even about the justice. Its about the (loss) of their daughters. Again! Guilty man or not ang family, (‘di) maaalis ang fact na nawalan sila. Buhay man o hindi ang mga anak nila, na rape pa rin sila.”
Meg also posted a photo that the movie will be coming in theaters on July 18, Wednesday.

In the comments section, Meg received criticisms from other netizens. One netizen states that people won’t want to watch Jacqueline Comes Home: The Chiong Story if they watched Give Up Tomorrow.
“Pag mapanood nyo ang “Give up Tomorrow” ayaw mo nang manood sa movie na ‘to”
Meg said that it would be up to them and that they are biased for not seeing the other side’s story.
“ahhhh up to you. Ur biased then. ;)”
Another netizen hoped that Jacqueline Comes Home: The Chiong Story will show two sides of the story. They also hoped the best for the movie.
