Girls have ruled over the competition in the MYX VJ Search 2018 as two females emerged as victors—Kaye Reyes and Samm Alvero.
Here are a few things you need to know about MYX’s newest VJs:
1. VJ KAYE IS THE ELDEST OF SIX SIBLINGS
Being in charge of their household, Kaye had doubts when she first learned she was a finalist of the recent VJ Search. “We don’t have a helper, so I thought to myself: Can I do this? So when I get home from shoots, I still did house chores. I wanted to try MYX for myself. This one’s for me. I just needed to balance everything,” said Kaye.
2. VJ SAMM LOST OVER 80 POUNDS IN JUST UNDER A YEAR
Aside from music, traveling, and make-up, the energetic lass, who used to weigh about 200 lbs. at her heaviest, is also most dedicated to fitness and exercise.
3. SINGING IS ALSO A PASSION OF VJ KAYE
Aside from hosting, the 19-year-old VJ can also belt out notes. She even opened their recent media conference with a performance of Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You”
4. VJ SAMM CHOSE TO ATTEND THE VJ SEARCH FINALS RATHER THAN HER GRADUATION CEREMONY IN ATENEO
“It was also a hard decision for me,” said Samm. “Before that I wasn’t really sure of what I was going to do. I’m very grateful that this was a path that I’m able to explore. It was very timely.”
5. VJ KAYE ALMOST DIDN’T MAKE IT TO THE AUDITIONS
The Adamson student first auditioned via online video and thought it was a long-shot since she didn’t receive any notifications after. She only received the callback text on the last day of auditions and rushed there from school.
6. VJ SAMM’S AUDITION LASTED ALMOST HALF AN HOUR
The graduate’s audition was unusual as auditions last for only around five minutes. Unknowingly, she even called MYX channel head Andre Alvarez ‘dude’ as she didn’t know who she was speaking to at the time and just had a blast in conversing with him.
7. BOTH NEWBIE VJs ARE EMPOWERED AND OUTSPOKEN WOMEN.
Belonging to the ‘woke’ generation, millennials Kaye and Samm aspire to be vocal about driving people towards their dreams.
“Don’t be afraid to make fun of yourself when you make mistakes. That’s how you grow,” advised Samm. “Always take the risk. It will haunt you for the rest of your life if you don’t,” followed Kaye.
Both ladies also took up Communication as their college course.
