Ricky Lee recently spoke up about the Dolphy Lifetime Achievement award being given to Vice Ganda. He also added that Dolphy’s family decided who the recipient will be.
He continued that selection committee has nothing to do with the decision. Madonna Sanchez, FAMAS Executive Producer, explained the reason behind the new award.
A writer, Gorgy Rula recently took a swipe at Vice Ganda on receiving the said award. Vice went on a Twitter rant about Gorgy’s article, “FAMAS: Vice, naunahan pa si Vic sa Dolphy Award.“
In Vice’s Twitter rant, he also suggested solutions in order Gorgy to be happy on the comedian’s recent achievement.
Gorgy ended his section of the article with a message to Vice. He won’t be too pretentious if he told Vice that he’s happy for his achievement. He hopes the comedian never intended to insult him.
Gorgy is happy that Vice has the energy and will to make people happy.
According to Laila Chikadora’s article in Tempo.com, she wrote how Madonna explained Filipinos loving comedy.
“We felt kasi na kailangan bigyan ng award ang mga comedian because you know, we love comedy as Filipinos and there is no other winner deserving of this award for the first recipient but Vice Ganda!”
